I am aware that johnson is injured but i am really worried that Neal is giving games to the wrong one Johnson is going to be our next No 1 Ruckman over Jamar. He has so much more to offer then Mark. I have seen Paul Johnson a lot at sandy last season and this guy is going to be something else. He never stops chasing and running players down. I hope he replaces Jamar next year. Thoughts :thumbsu:

Nah I think Russian is great, he and Jeffery play well in tandem. I see PJ playing more up in attack, he seems a more confident kick of the ball than Jamar. Keeping in mind Jeffery hasn't got alot of seasons left in him, so it will eventually be Johnson and Jamar sharing the ruck duties and probably having players like Miller, Dunn, maybe Bate, Newton and possibly 426 in the forward 50. PJ has a great size and body shape to play out of the square IMO and Russian is getting better in the ruck and is learning alot from Jeffery. But it's safe to say we've got plenty of tall stocks at our club so we shouldn't worry about anything in the near future, it's a very good position to be in

Good post. Jamar is a better hitout ruckman than PJ and currently a better contested mark but PJ has mobility that very ruckman have and has very good skills.
If PJ's ruckwork improves further (And I think it will, I think Sam Newman has had a big impact on Whitey and the Russian) and he can take contested marks here and there he could dominate.

Johnson > Jamar. Proved it in the Swans game, and Jamar hasn't come close since.

Speaking about the ruckmen, Jeff White is my favourite player and has been for years and it has always perplexed me why he doesn't play up forward much. I know he's not the tallest ruckman, so he's got fantastic mobility, almost the extra midfielder so to speak. He's a great kick too and I would have thought instead of taking him off the field when Russian comes on, why not play him up forward? He can take a grab and is fairly quick...So how come it doesn't happen that often?

Exactly! White should be played up forward more, he has the mobility and is the right size for a tall forward, he showed this against carlton where he kicked 2 goals in the last term in a game where goals were scarce.

Johnson and Jamar are about even imo - both show flashes but are relatively useless. Neither will be a superstar.
White does not go forward because he rarely takes marks and rarely kicks goals when resting there.

Jamar has been great i reckon, Johnson was ahead of him at the start of the year but Jamar has come on well.

Jamar has been a passenger this year IMO. Hardly gets any possessions. His only real value is that White can be rested. I'd have Paul Johnson over Jamar in a heartbeat.
Russian will struggle for a spot next year if he doesn't get busy soon

I think you are being a bit unfair there. Generally over the last few years when White has been off we have been killed in the clearances, but Russian is a very good tap ruckman and offers a different style to Whitey.
Russian will never be a big possession getter but IMO the players need kick it to him inside 50 more when he is one out. The amount of times he is deep forward with a much smaller opponent on him and they don't kick it to him is ridiculous.

Jamar is a better ruckman, but PJ could possibly have more influence around the ground. Although PJ does struggles to take an overhead mark, which is kind of pathetic for someone his size.
At the moment, we need a big bodied ruckman who can tap affectively, and Jamar is the man for the job. We are kidding ourselves if we think that either PJ or Jamar will ever dominate around the ground, the way Neale plays them. It's on to ruck for 8 minutes, then off to the bench. Neither of these guys are mobile or quick enough to play in the midfield like Jeff White, so either they go forward and try to kick a goal, or they will continue to rack up 2-3 possessions a game.
