View Full Version : South Africa to have 4 points deducted and miss finals
At a hastily convened hearing of the ICC disciplinary committe it was found that SA had thrown todays match against Australia, not attempting to win it. This was deemed as being contrary to the spirit of the game and against rule 41.4.16a. The Proteas were given a 4 point penalty and will now miss the finals.

hehe :D
clever.
I remember a few years back when Sri Lanka did the same thing against England...they needed to reach a certain score to get their run rate high enough to make the finals...they did it with Dharmasena hitting a 4 off the last ball i think from memory.
Two things were evident today.... 1. Sth Africa never tried to win the match and 2. there **** scared of Australia.
No it didnt go thru to the keeper it was caught at slips?????The Sth Africans were like the Kiwi's and they all threw the game,so that they could keep the Aussies out of the finals.
Typical of overseas teams, particularly the BLOODY kiwis. They cant play Rugby League,Cant play Rugby Union, cant play Cricket, wouldnt even have any ides how to play Aussie Rules.....what can they do right?????

Hey I am as parochial as the next bloke, but NZ and SA did everything that was required.
Don't forget Australia tried to do the same by knocking NZ out of the World Cup by boosting the WI net run rate in 99. It took Waugh and Bevan 17 overs to score 19 runs.
