Coming 'soon' to Rod Laver Arena and in conjunction with Foxtel (locally) & fully sanctioned by the WBC - Superfighter is coming to town.
This will be the 1st instalment of the ultimate slugfest.
Starting with 8 x heavyweight boxers (current guns, and possibly a couple of retired former champs in the Lewis & Tyson mould). Fighting for a $20m USD purse, gladiator style slug fest.
4 x 3 minute round bouts. Knock and & elimination bouts. 7 fights on the card, on one day with the final being a 12 round winner takes all prize fight.
If, as expected, the formula and concept proves to be a winner - other divisions will be brought into the fold.
Looks like we finally have the answer to unifying all the different divisions, and some fair dinkum stoushes - rather than the Don Kings of the word setting up meaningless bouts between highly ranked fighters and bums.
Foxtel is the local broadcaster and it structured in a way that it's going to be broadcast on a pay per view back into the lucrative US market.
Let's get ready to rumble.:thumbsu:
