View Full Version : Good game
Despite the missed shots on goal and a couple of periods of brain farting by our boys it was a good hard physical contest, too much class by the Eagles in the end but it was a good contest for our kids to learn and it was a good physical contest for the Eagles coming into the finals.
Pity to see Hansen come off very early, hope he isn't too badly injured. Good luck for the rest of the year.

Always good to hear it was a good game and although I didn't see the game watching the livescores on the net was interesting seeing so many points kicked.
Was it wet coz 23 behinds is a little ridiculous though I was a little unsatisfied if we kicked at least one more behind then we 'd have the record amount of behinds kicked this season:D Oh what a disappointed:rolleyes:

A lot of them were rushed and a fair few were shots from the pockets, it was not a pretty game but it was a physical game, good tackles, players getting crunched, four of our players had bandaged heads... it was a bit like the old days, there wasn't any real spite out there either, was just a good physical contest, especially in the middle.

So it was an interesting game, reading what some have said (or one) that the umpiring was poor, but a good old fashion game is always good to watch have to see it for myself on the net:thumbsu:

They let a lot of the very technical frees go, to both sides, Cox got his early goal holding onto Petrie's jumper, technically it is a free but they let that and a lot of decisions go. They had to pay frees for head high contact and there was a bit more against us.
Overall it was 17 frees vs 14, not a massive amount in it. When both sides are happy to play it tough and physical you put the whistle away, the only ones that want soft rubbish frees are the morons in the crowd.
It was just one big flood and a terrible game to watch. If I was a Roos fan I would hang my head, if this is the direction you want your club to go...well enough said...
Chiping across the full back line is not football!

Didn't think it was that bad flooding wise, but the blustery conditions affected the skills a bit
Good physical footy, but the umps were shockers - both ways
Absolutely disgraceful umpiring, but as said, it did go both ways. The one that stunned me the most was Waters getting tackled without the ball, getting tackled high/in the back, then Stenglein getting dragged down without the ball...play on...Roos goal. But anyway, don't like to whinge too much about the umps.
Game was terrible as a spectacle. The Kangaroos sequence of chipping it around in the backline for 2 minutes then losing it and getting a deliberate out of bounds was hilarious. Skills were poor due to very swirly on/off gusty breeze and damp ground that dried up in the second half. Some good hits and tackles, Kerr shined, Lynch continued his good season, Cox returned successfully, Embley recaptured some form...there were some positives.

Cheers. A good effort by the Roos.
Stenglein's a Champ!

Agreed, that was one of the worst passages of umpiring I've seen in a while, no bias involved. It was right in front of me, Heals and I counted 4 infringements in that passage, you'd think one would've been paid.
Cheers. A good effort by the Roos.
I don't know where? We lost.Once we get a bit older in the middle we'll manage to sort a few sides out.The hard and tough parts already there but we need to get the guys going a bot more direct with the footy.

Harris is a gun.
One of the true in and unders in the league.
It's time for Eagles to dominate like Roos did in the late 90s (coincedentally after the Eagles early 90's reign).

Absolutely! Harris is one of my favourite players outside of the Eagles, the way he goes about it is superb.
