thought this might be the right board for it

but I was told on the weekend that a Melbourne based player was to have a tribute dinner setup but due to lack of interest it fell through

did this actually happen or is it total fiction ?

Peter Riccardi? Yep, it happened. Been re-scheduled to down in Geelong, I think.

From what I've heard, it was more an administrative balls-up than anything. Bad timing, tickets too expensive, etc.

Yeah his testimonial, how embarassing. Lack of numbers
Sad for such a champ

He has more skill and goalsense in that left boot of his than the rest of the Geelong squad put together - he may not be a 'champion' in the full sense of the word but there is no doubt that he is a top-class player.

It was a real shame to hear it was cancelled - I don't know the circumstances but it sounded like there were a bunch of things combining.

Anyone who pays $120.00 to go to a dinner to further line the pockets of a bloke who'd be on over $250,000.00 p.a. for at least the last 5 years wants his/her head read. Good for Geelong supporters for having more sense.
