View Full Version : Challenge for Port supporters
Please tell me very specifically in what way are Port Adelaide better than the Crows.
So far, none of you have been able to do so apart from coming up with 'witty' retorts to hide your team's obvious inferiority.
Also, please try to stick with what your club has done to this date and not get carried away with achievements not yet achieved as Port supporters seem to have a tendency to do to make up for their shortcomings.
Good luck.

WHOCARES ****.. all i can say is check the showdown tally and as far as i know we are the last SA team to win a AFL premiership and it wasn't 10 years ago. Go down the road to Alberton and have alook at what else we have won;)
Just like to tell ya though, we have been in the comp for 7 years less then you. I would love to compare the teams if we were both in the comp for the same amount of time.

WHOCARES ****..
That says it all, really. Make a bold claim and when asked to back it up, just say 'Who cares'.
all i can say is check the showdown tally
Gladly, Adelaide winners in 5 out of 6 of the last showdowns which include multiple almighty thrashings as well as a 'dream final' which turned into a nightmare for Port.
and as far as i know we are the last SA team to win a AFL premiership and it wasn't 10 years ago.
We'll I'm glad you use the 10-year time frame. In the last 10 years we have won two premierships. And as I said, two premierships > one. You really like shooting yourself in the foot, don't you?
Go down the road to Alberton and have alook at what else we have won;)
Irrelevant, if you want to enjoy being a medium fish in a tiny pond, then go play in the SANFL.
Just like to tell ya though, we have been in the comp for 7 years less then you. I would love to compare the teams if we were both in the comp for the same amount of time.
Ok, there you go again. Verging on celebrating achievements not yet achieved. Let's stick with the facts, shall we? In the same period of time that you have been in the comp, we won more flags than the team that supposedly 'exists to win premierships'. How embarrassment.
Anyone else up for a go at the challenge?

We actually have a history and actually have a heritage, which dates all the way back to 1870. In that time, we got 34 SANFL flags and an AFL flag, we went undefeated for an entire season, and were named Champions of Australia.
As for the Adelaide Crows and their so-called heritage, it only dates back to 1990 when you actually started playing footy. The SANFL is NOT your history or heritage.

You are not the Port Adelaide magpies. As soon as you stepped foot into the AFL you changed. You sold yourselves out to join the national competition.
I can't blame you for that, because the AFL is the pinnacle of this nations number one sport. But stop hanging on the coat tails of a successful SANFL club.
You guys are like 3rd generation wogs who are clinging on to their heritage as greeks, italians or whatever, instead of embracing yourselves as Australians.
Question: If the SANFL was the equal of the VFL/AFL - why did we lose all of our players there? I am not doubting our players were just as good, but the strength of the competition wasn't on par. Sure the Magpies are great, but you can not compare your 34 SANFL flags. It's like comparing the SAAFL to the SANFL.
Stop making spurious claims of your success as a club to get one over us.
You are not the same club. As soon as you bent yourselves over to appease the AFL to get into the competition you lost any right to claim this.

Hmmm, double standards jmorg. If you only count recent form, then why bring the "10-year rule" into it? You can say you've won 5 of the past 6 showdowns, but Port have won a premiership before you (of course you will win it this year so its a moot point)

Like i said you can't compare the two clubs brief AFL history when one side had a 7 year head start and a hell of alot more concessions then us. All you can compare if you like is the showdown tally and i believe we are still leading am i right? You can also have a look at our win/loss ratio from the last 4 years it's quite impressive and i believe alot better then the Crows ever got.

OK, but what would you rather gauge the club's success by? Overall history (2 flags to Adelaide - 1 to Port; more Showdown wins to Port) or most recent success (last flag to Port; 5 of the last 6 Showdowns to Adelaide). You seem to be counting recent form when it suits you (bringing up Adelaide's recent showdown form), whereas Port's recent premiership form has been better (only flag since 2000).

Mate, you lost it like a prison bitch losing all respect when he is forcefully bent over for the first time. Your heritage and history ended when you catered to the SANFL and the AFL's whims. You are not the magpies.
We're not the Magpies, I know that, but we are still the Port Adelaide Football Club, which we have been since 1870-1996 in the SANFL, then from 1997-present in the AFL.

looks like some crows supporters are desperately trying to deflect attention away from their horrible form. Or has the inevitable choking feeling come back to the fore. Don't worry lads it aint quite September yet.

It's funny how many times we have to explain it to them. It's like we do then we dont hear it for another 5-10 pages because they finnaly get it then someone else will pop up and say '' oh but your not the real Port Adelaide''

no where not, and who are you???????????
Don't you just represent the "other" 8 clubs in the SANFL. The ones who weren't good enough to get into the AFL by themselves.
Lol this threads a joke. It's probably going to go for 40 pages because Adelaide supporters can't admit there jealousy.
More success, more supporters, more money ... and yet we're jealous?

Thank the Port Adelaide Football Club for that. ;) As for AFL success thats arguable. Funny you dont mention a heritage. One of the most important aspects to a Football Club.

It's called history and heritage. Most AFL clubs actually have it mate. Your home ground? You mean SANFLS atleast we own our ground what do you own? that *****ing shead :D
That f*cking shed you refer could draw a bigger capacity than any of your games could.
Most AFL clubs may have a ground in the suburbs, but look at the top 3 teams.....those 3 teams don't have a 'home ground' as you like to call it, but they are still sh1tting on everyone.

The AFL didn't allow us to celebrate our heritage ( because of the Collingwood issue) so we wore our clash guernsey, because our normal home guernsey clashes with St Kildas. Thats why now if you want to make up some more smartas* **** then go ahead.

Overall history. :)
My point was that overall, Adelaide's showdown wins have been more convincing and significant (i.e. the dream final).
But overall, a win's a win :p Shouldn't having more flags than them be enough for you? ;)
BTW, I get some conflicting views on the AFL site regarding South Australian football - see here  (http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=stats&spg=display&records=100&statisticType=A%20brief%20Port%20Adelaide%20History%3Cp%3ESo uth%20Australias%20most%20successful%20football%20club%20is% 20the%20Essendon%20Football%20Club)

I'm pretty sure you couldn't fit 30,000 in there. It's funny we give you facts but you makeup sh*t like that last comment.

Our heritage includes two AFL premierships. How many does yours have?

1 AFL and 36 SANFL flags why?

No, the reason for starting this thread was to give you Port supporters a chance to state once and for all why Port Adelaide are supposedly better than the Crows.
So far, you have given me nothing to back up your claims.

So the AFL agrees with me that port doesnt date back past 1997, its just a complex you weenies have about trying to be superior to the crows.
How's your 10th year anniversay going this year?
1 AFL and 36 SANFL flags why?
2 > 1. That's why.
