Just reported on SEN that we will be playing a "home" game in Canberra next year.

In lieu of the Sydney or Darwin game? Or in addition?

They didn't say. Apparantly there is a press conference at 1.30

I would think that it would be in place of the Sydney game, although we will probably play Sydney in the Canberra game.

Canberra and Darwin.

Couldn't get two more extremes. Still better than playing Sydney at their home ground.

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel, we get out of playing games in the worlds most unlivable, expensive and polluted city.

I'd prefer the dogs to concentrate their games in the one region. I know it isn't totally in their control, but does anyone know if there is any thought of playing both games in Canberra in the future?...I would have thought Darwin is a much harsher environment, as well as being further to travel...Therefore, I would have thought there'd be a preference for both games to be played in Canberra

Why do you live here?

Why do you live here?

No choice in the matter, work makes me live in the place but I get out of the place as much as possible (like now, no pollution in Darwin).

GOOD!

Nothing is more frustrating than having to play at that poor excuse of a ground. I'd much prefer a Canberra game. I'm also hoping that the Darwin game is around the same time as the split round

Sold two games this year, pocketed the cash, lost both.
Could now be 13 and 6 and planning for finals by freshening up the few fit players available, instead have to somehow find another victory to stay in.
Very awkward situation but unless the membership keeps going up steadily, club will have to continue the home game giveaway.

I grew up in Footscray, moved to Sydney for work and love it here. No plans on going anywhere. The only problem is that we only get two games a week on TV at a decent hour and one of those usually the swans.

Unless you're Carlton, of course.

Still better than playing Sydney at their home ground.

It still looks like a Sydney home match when North have played them there. Swans supporters seem to outnumber the Roos supporters.

I'd rather play one of the other interstate teams there, if we have to.

I live in sydney, I'm glad we don't have to play here, Canberra is 100% better.
We've got the two territories now.

Well done, hope it is a success for you guys and you have some long term success there.

Having been up there a few times I can only sit and wonder about just how stupid my club is.

Glad you asked - I used to live in Canberra. Must take you two to the underground motorised beer keg pub and can make some subtle enquiries about a Courthouse Hotel substitute for Ernie.

Dunno if the joint is still there - it was an underground den in Belconnen.

Blokes were riding around on motorised kegs while their mates were trying to knock them off. Most folk were really p1ssed, including a bloke and a slapper at the bar who had passed out, head first into the bar.

A great place, IMO.

Sounds like perfectly sober conduct to me.:D

I am quite happy with playing the one game in Canberra and the other in Darwin both neutral areas, although I look forward to the day when we won't have to sell off our home games.

Two interstate games a year for 3 years is o.k. until we find our financial feet.

If they are really doing it to try and gain a supporter base in another market wouldn’t the best option be West Sydney playing out of Telstra Stadium against the swans and another popular club?

Canberra didn’t work with north, Sunshine coast was stupid, Darwin and Tassie just don’t have the population. West Sydney is by far and away the best market to work.

Having said that I love us playing in Melbourne and I would hate for it to ever get to a stage of playing more than 3 games anywhere else.

Darwin is hurting us, but canberra is by far and away a better option than sydney

It would be nice for the club to come out and say what kind of memberships/sponsorhsips would be required if the 2010 vision of all home games in Melb is to be achieved.

i.e. if we were told that +30K memberships for the next three years would guarantee this occuring.......it'd certainly motivate a few people
