How do you view the McKernan/Porter trade now that Corey is showing signs of being an injury concern? Has anything changed?

I wouldnt see this as too much of a negative just yet. Just makes us wait a bit longer before we see the big fella in action.

Should have traded Kouta for McKernan

At least Porter can play.

According to today's Age - Corey, Lance and Hicky are all 1 week away. Not too bad I guess, at least it gets them off that dreaded 1-2 weeks prognosis that they've been listed as for....well...about 4 weeks now ;)

Smaller squad training today about 25 and I suspect is squad for saturday practice match. The good news is that the squad included mckernan eccles gallagher murphy sporn wiggins and pickering and smith bray and cranage. Therefore only wiggins and pickering of that lot played senior football with the blues last year and they had about 9 games between them so we are introducing new guys into our team.Camporeale trained at full tilt and definitely will play.
Hickmott was not sighted and will therefore be unlikely to play.Didnt see christou hulme or freeborn either. Merro jogged laps and will miss again and Lance was also doing some slow jogging but wasnt doing nearly as much as merro.Thorton and Waite were separate from main group and look like they may be emergencies if someone pulls out of main squad.
Light run today mostly skills with emphasis on getting the ball quickly through the corridor and kicking it to marking forward.Fevola was the fast leading forward and mckernan about 5-10 metres from goal square.I think it will be good for mckernan to play on saturday because it is obvious that the team is not used to having him propped in that position as they tended to commit to fast leading forward fevola when the longer option of a leading mckernan would have been better.
Spoke to Robert Walls today and he seems to think that generally prenda is the person for chb and thought his job on Richardson was pretty good .He like most of us think that prenda will struggle on some occasions but it will really help his development

At this stage it's sensational. Clear from the pre-season is that we need a key position player, whether forward or back, and Porter was never that player.

Also apparent that we need a ruckman that plays hard. It's a real trade off this one. Maybe Allan should be wearing vertical light blue stripes instead? Good beginnings for Ports at the Roos, he's all heart.

Porter - has started very well at the Roos - he is a few years younger than Corey - and I think that North have done very well with the trade. Apart from a fantastic year in '96 - he has been riddled with injury and inconsistent form.

Hope he does turn his career around - cos he had the makings of an absolute champion of the game....

Should have a Brownlow to his name....
