Just as rmbuc2 reported on his top dog night.

Birss must be OK.

From the AFL Board:

Western Bulldogs
IN: Addison, Wight
OUT: Eagleton (hamstring), McGuinness

Presume emergencies could be important with injury clouds over Birss and Smith.

Would be nice if Skipper was to play so that we actually have as close to a normal set up as possible.

Who are the emergencies?

Whats normal?
Playing talls just for the sake of it?
I'd prefer to choose the quality smalls we have missing than a 'normal' set up by adding talls.

I didn't think K-Mac did horribly but he was completely focussed on his man (understandable when your playing for your career) and didn't offer much run or even lend a helping hand to his other defenders.I would say that Eade has just thought if he is going to have someone playing on a tall forward in a purely negating role then he might aswell make it someone who has a future in the position and does it week in and week out at Werribee.Last week was the equivalent of Bowdens last chance game (crows) last year for K-Mac.

Addison in for a brief taste.Dont think he will keep his spot regardless of performance unless injuries occur.

Well done to the kid. I'd love for eade to give a him a licence to use that blistering pace of his and run and carry the thing. really give Adelaide somethiing to think about. Great to see him get a game this year.

Damn.

You'd make a nasty BP IMO. Or an inside midfielder who'd be aquainted with Kerr's techniques.

and thats been oh so successful these past 7 years. Lets go tall for once and see what happens. We have no idea whether it would work or not because it has never occured. Even when Darcy was fit Eade refused to play Darcy, Street and Minson in the same side, just as now he refuses to play Skipper, Minson and Street in the same side. These past few weeks he even plays Kmac instead of Skipper or Wight

Playing small will never win you a flag. History shows that yet we continue to play midget forward lines. Its lunacy.

Do you think we will be successful just by adding talls of lesser quality?
In the past 2 years our we have won most of our game with our run from our quality smalls. You have to get to the finals to win the GF.

Eade has refused to play 3 of Street, Darcy and Minson or Skipper together because 3 of those ain't that good yet and you have to drop a good small to fit them in. Minson is young, Skipper had plenty of chance without success and Street is no Polly Farmer.
Go back to the rnd 1 team and who would drop to add another tall?

History tells me the best team wins the Grand final. If you play talls just for the sake of it, we aren't a better team.

Carlton's mosquito fleet won three out of four from 79-82

Well done Addison and Wight.

Wight never should have been dropped IMO.....well not for KMAC anyway.

I agree.

Wight has been good.

Harris Wight Shaggy & Morris in the back half. They should be able to handle the talls. Grant up forward.

Not a terrible set up.

Give me Wight over KMac any time. Wight has a go, I think he will be a handy player for us.

My Grandmother, (who was a mad keen doggies suporter herslf) told me if you cannot say anything nice, then do not say anything at all. So I will make no comment about KMac.

it would be nice to have a rising star nomination this year as well.

We've only had higgins and dmac debut this year from memory, wight is probably eligible as well.

I'd also like to see Skipper play. At least Wight is in, bcos the Crows will be using one of Rutten, Bock or Stevens in their forward line.

Good luck to Addison.

That's really bad luck local, maybe with the club looking to rookie list an additional 2 or 3 next season, you may yet get a reprieve.
What's your rehab schedule looking like over the summer?

Johnno hands Dylan his jumper, an Quarters says 'Can't replay the speech now as we are still on a G Rating.'

:D

Good luck Dylan, hope we can have a win today!

For those who went - how did he go?

lifelike_
19 Aug 2006, 18:34
He had a pretty good first up game.

He started on the ground which was suprising, and had a pretty good opening term, but it looked as though he faded as the game grew older. He only had 5 or 6 touches, but his tackling was very good. He spent most of the game on Bode and did a pretty good job, although Bode did kick 3.

Probably the best part of his game was the one percenters: his spoiling, tackling, and shepherding were very good.

yeah i thought dylan had a good game for a debut. As westy07 said, his one percenters were very good and the things that he did do were from a player with a cool head. He also has a decent body on him which should build well over the next 2 years. He looks promising enough at least.

Yeah, in a pressure filled game on the MCG I'd say he handled it well. I think he'll go out for Gia next week, but he looks like he'll be a player. Wait till he's given some creative license to do a McMahon, Gilbee or Griffen, that will be good.

From the stands he looked a bit like Griffen when he went for the ball. Or was I the only one confusing them.

Yeah Like Brad giving creative licence to Jordy with that 60 metre bouncing last quater goal.

I thought he looked really good. As though he belonged. Didn't see overawed or slow to adjust. Another pretty impressive debut.

The one percenter comment was right on the money. I think Addison will be a good player in years to come. Not an A grader but a handy soldier.

I think he could very well be a good player for us. He has good height and pace and seems to be able to stick to the job at hand. He is unlikely to be the type to come in a play 15 plus senior games for us next season but in a couple of years he should be a pretty good player.
