Melbourne
IN: Davey, Johnstone, Robertson, Whelan, Bell
OUT: Ferguson (knee), Dunn
INT (from): Johnson, Motlop, Brown, Godfrey, Yze, Robertson, Bell
GOOD ins. :thumbsu:
I guess the extended bench will end up being Yze, Robertson (if fit), Godfrey and Brown.

Eh? No Smith? That's an outrage! :( Is that official?

Yep. If Smith gets a game we know we're tanking

 How dare you say that!
Good INS anyway, but I am surprised to see Bell get another game...

probably won't get picked though Bell.
Also 5 inclusions for North. Doubt all 5 will get a run on Sunday.
In: Archer, J Rawlings, Makepeace, Lower, Riggio (*debut)
Out: Simpson (inj), Pratt (inj)

The bulk of the experience thru the kangaroos midfield is out in preperation for next year. We should really exert some influence over this game. Fingers crossed anyways. If we are to shake that fade out demons tag we will win this and win this very well. If not, making up the numbers again....

Not quite right. Of the regular midfielders, only Simmo is out. He was very good last week, but has been carrying OP (among other things) and has been heavily rotated off the bench (started on the bench the past 3 games).
BTW - Shannon Grant usually plays on a HFF for us.
Our core midfielders consist of Harris, Swallow, Firrito, Harvey, B Rawlings (tagger), Hale & McIntosh in the ruck.
Low profile - but our strength, and they more than held their own against Cox, Judd, Cousins & Kerr last weekend.

That would be why Cousins Kerr and Judd were named the best 3 players on the ground last week.

And Harris & Simpson would've completed the best 5 on ground. We smashed 'em in the clearances, Kerr got a lot of it but wasn't damaging, and got votes just for having a high stat count. Judd was Judd. Cousins played a blinder in the 4th term.
You'll get to see for yourself in a couple of days. And Swallow is a beauty. Harder at it than Harris. Big wrap for a kid with just 9 games under his belt.

Is it true they call Swallow "spits" at the club?
Just wondering.

Yep - Apparently he had been given it before he actually entered Arden St
With a name like that what else can you do

Any chance he will play in the hole, as the loose man?

Good ins, no doubt about it. Surprised to see Whelan named, hope he gets up for the game but would think he's in some doubt.
Bell won't get a run if the other 4 are all fit, so I would expect CJ and Motlop to miss out.

Apparently Brown, Motlop and CJ have been left out. Bit harsh on brown i think

In the guts.
North's final changes.
Out: Simpson & Pratt (inj/rested for season)
In: Archer & Lower
And Sav Rocca's 100th game with North.

Very nice ins, don't know how we will fit Pickett, Sylvia, Moloney, Dunn back in, i'd say bar Pickett the others may not get a chance, although the great men Godders and Daniel "Leagues 2nd most unaccountable defender behind Joel Bowden" Ward are still in.
And hey, if we lose, we can use collingwoods excuse from Queens Birthday "5 forced changes in one week upset team balance" :thumbsu:

How in god's name is Bell getting a run? Really. CJ and Brown are very stiff to get rolled for that dud.

Agreed. He's a dud I don't care what people say about him being quick and he'll develop soon. He's a slow thinker on the field and little can be done about that.

I'm always amazed that we declare 4th year players duds. Has he even played 20 games?
Brown is running on empty and has one foot in the retirement basket. We all love him, but we need to find a replacement for him. Bell is a natural option.
Let us not be so quick to judge and dismiss players. Hell, I was calling for the burning of Carroll's jumper early in 2005!

I'll be the first to put my hand up and admit I was wrong if he turns out alright but I can't see it happening. I agree on the need to find a replacement for Brown but we're playing for a spot in the top 4 - it's not the time to be experimenting. We should beat North no matter who we put out there (unless it's Phil Gilbert and John Howat) but they've been in good form recently so I'm not for taking them lightly.
