Geez this mob sh*t me.

I got a $30 voucher for my birthday, and so I headed to my local Sanity store, knowing exactly what I wanted. I was after one of the albums of the 90's - Blood Sex Sugar Magik by the Chili Peppers.

So you'd think they'd actually have one of the best albums of modern times, right? Of course not. They had about 20 zillion copies of Californication, some copies of Mother's Milk, and even one of One Hot Minute. Of course, no Blood Sex Sugar Magik.

Anyway, they said they could order it in, I told them where to go, and got Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd instead.

JB Hi-Fi is the best store by a mile for buying music, I am never going to Sanity again. :o

Hitman, for once we agree- Sanity truly suck. Their hiring policy seems to be to employ little dolly birds, in other words they hire for what people look like. These dolly birds are more interested in how their hair/nails etc look than in customer service, and most of them haven't got a clue about proper music- if it's not Britney, Bardot or God knows what else, they have no idea. Good to see you have taste in music (Pink Floyd) if not in EPL teams.

Sanity isn't a music shop, it's a teen hangout.

I find the internet the best music shop, the fact that it's free and you can get porn as well just adds to the experince.

If I have the inkling to pay for a CD, I go to JB, and I do buy all my CD-Rs there.

Maybe it was sold out and they hadnt gotten round to ordering more yet.

I will hold you to that!!
Last time i buoght a cd at sanity was 12th Man: Final Dig. I only ever go into Sanity if im buying a present for one of my parents (the music store i shop at 99.5% of the time is basically just metal, hard rock and alternative). Last time i went into Sanity for myself i asked when Marilyn Mansons new cd was coming out (Holy Wood...asked this about a month before the release) to which the bimbo behind the counter gave me a strange stare and said "Does he have a new cd coming out? I can ring up the main store and ask someone who would know if you like" to which i giggled and said no thanx. Youd think working in a music store would mean you know something about music and that you wouldnt need to ring up the main store to find out when the cd is coming out of one of the biggest names in music!

I went into a Sanity once, and I had to leave because the several minutes of incessant techno music gave me a headache.

Don't know about anyone else, but I cannot shop for music when I'm being pounded with thump thump thump. 90% of the time I get so bothered that I forget what I'm actually shopping for because I can't concentrate on remembering the music on the CD's I'm looking for.

The Sanity down here in Geelong isn't too bad. But it's not like we have a lot of choice down here in the sticks. I prefer to order on the net now, unless it's an impulse buy.

JB is definitely the best for both stock and price.

Makes impulse buying all the more fun!

I find the Sanity store in Geelong is far more expensive than CC Music over the road, where you can pick up new releases for about $5 less than at Sanity.

Sanity are overpriced IMO, although the store at Indooroopilly Westfield is well worth the visit even if it is only to check out the cute sales guy ;).

HMV always seem to suck me into buying something....take 30 minutes ago for example, I walked in for a quick distraction from study - no intention to buy anything, had a listen to the latest Chemical Bro's, Sonic Animation and Groove Amarda releases - just to clear my head and next thing I know I was at the register buying the latest Ministry of Sound CD.........I don't know how, but they always seem to do it to me :( :( :(

However, on the up side - its a got a great mix of stuff on it - I feel like jumping up on my desk and dancing :D

Catman, I hadn't really noticed a huge difference in the prices between the two stores. Still Sanity stock a fair bit more. If ya want cheap ya can't go past Target.;)

People still go to Sanity to buy music?????

I go to check out 17 year old eye-candy in tight black pants. :D

Their only value for money music is the cassette chuck out bins out the front. Friends have picked up the new albums by Creed and Smashing Pumpkins for $2.95.

I dont shop at any of the above. I go to Leading Edge, they know theyre music, theyre cheap and they have a lot to choose from.
