Thought it might be an opportunity to show this video in the lead up to Saturday night's game.

Hawthorn fans can enjoy the fact they clearly won the fight. Essendon fans can reminisce about the time when they were a perenial top 4 team who intimidatedd other teams. A reputation and standing in the league that dissapeared after this game.
On a side note, check out the vision from the 13-14 second mark where Essendon "Captain" Matthew Lloyd can be clearly seen threatenning to hit an umpire. Typical gutless umpire refused to report him. Still, contrasts with Hawthorn's captain who got belted by McPhee and went straight back after him. Alot more guts than picking on a 140 pound umpire.

You're kidding aren't you. Have another look at Lloyd and Croad grabbing his arm.
Solly taking on three at a time, Bateman sliding in after two blokes already had McPhee down. All class.

Took 3 of those little *****s to get McPhee down. bateman is such a dog there are two on top of McPhee and he takes the easy option of getting in on that.
Oh and to the OP:
Hawks are still a dog team and not in the top 4

Look at the amount of 2 on 1s, 3 on 1s, you must feel so proud seeing your captain hit someone while someone else holds him down.

Are you saying that players shouldn't stick up for their team-mates? Of course I am proud of Vandenberg. He chose to fight back after McPhee elbowed him in the head. Much better effort than in the first half when he was hit behind play and chose to do nothing.

Just watch the vision. Can you not see the umpire putting his hand up in a defensive motion as Lloyd cocks his fist. If someone could teach me how to screen capture off he web I would post pictures.

I love murphy's look to the umpire when Beaumont hit him ... Priceless

If only Franklin was there.
He could have shown them all a thing or two about fighting.

Could help that one is 19 and a good 4-5 years away from getting anywhere close to the peak of his powers, while the other is in the peak of his career.

Ahh, of course not.
You don't want 200 cm, 95 kg KPP players that athletically can run like the wind, and rove like a rover. I guess having a 19 year old that can kick crunch goals from 55-60 metres out consistently don't make it at Essendon. Likewise players that still have a good 6-7 kg left in development yet.
How did Cupido go for your professional club?
You’re a drop kick.

Kepler Bradley goes alright, no Franklin but he's not half bad.

I don't mind Bradley as a player either, but to claim that you would reject Franklin if he was on the market is stupid.

I'm looking forward to this game, I went to the game earlier in the year and it was a good close game. Got to love the rough stuff and a bit of niggle in a game, it creates more interest. Buggar the softly softly image the AFL want, lets get the tough, hard footy back!
I have a 21st on Saturday night so I might have to tape it if they don't have pay TV at the venue.

It's called team work. In the heat of battle, I guess it counts to know who your real friends are. Obviously McPhee doesn't have any. All he could do was stand point, and yell. He knew he didn't have any allies, and as such, he tried scaring us with his extended finger.
Also, how about Mark Johnson implementing Cactus Jack's mandible claw on Nick Holland. Surely he's not that dumb to suggest it actually does anything. In reply, Dutchy put Mr. Sunbury in a sleeper hold, to which he almost passed out. One has to question, however, the Sunbury man's acting abilities.

Culture. Hitting a player with 2 teammates holding him down makes Hawthorn fans proud.

It still amazes me how proud Hawthorn supporters are concerning their teams complete lack of discipline.
