(yes I can spell, it's a pun). Jacob Surjan (http://portadelaidefc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=290565) is the latest on the conveyor belt from Alberton to the operating theatre. Could be down to 24 fit players!

The likelihood of Jacob Surjan requiring surgery on an injured shoulder has reduced Port Adelaide's selection options even more for next Sunday's showdown against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

Asked how many fit players the Power could have to choose from, coach Mark Williams said: "Ah, you'd think about 24.

"We're not sure if we've got enough numbers to play, actually. It was a very difficult selection this week and obviously with a couple more players injured it's going to be very difficult to pick a side.

Dissapointing end to the season for a future champion of the club

The way we are going Eckerman, Giles and Minson will play before the seasons over and Francou would be a shoe in for selection if he is fit.
This year we have played
16 guys on the list who won the flag
4 guys that we traded for post the flag, and
18 kids
Maybe have to go back to 1983 where the PAFC played so many players in one season. Mind you we did use 37 in 2000.

It looks like Choco has done a Nick Stokes on Elijah Ware.

A what now?

You have to watch CSI ;) ... Nick Stokes was the CSI buried alive with no clues in the two parter directed by Quentin Tarantino (he did the same to The Bride in Kill Bill). Seems Ware has disappeared without a trace from Choco's thoughts.

It seems he is off the radar - I'm not sure that he has anything to add that we don't already have with the other kids.

IMO I think he will be delisted in favour of Kingers or Ecky.

He's a fair bit older than most of our 'kids' as well. Ware is easily delistable, no one will pick him up so we can always redraft him if nothing else bobs up.

I dont think you'll be seeing Ware 'bob' up again in the AFL, he'll be gone at year's end

I think there will be more than 24 fit players.

22 that played + Ware + Eckermann + Walsh + White + Giles + Minson + Shattock + Carlile + DeLuca doesnt = 24.

Surgery turned out not to be too bad - minor surgery (http://portadelaidefc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=291523) the club described it as, but still season ending.

Port did confirm the London game would still go ahead. Apparently we'll have scraped enough players together by then.

Don't these games tend to feature a lot of second string players anyway?

We barely even have those right now. I imagine we'll be allowed to take our rookies, assuming Looby and Rischbieth are still RL players then (Bentley and Logan would be givens, maybe even upgraded). I hope we hang onto Looby - he's showing some good signs at SANFL league level, and he's a decent size with some pace and a big kick. Would be a handy medium defensive option.
