Interesting to read in todays herald sun, Bluey McGrath wanting cats to chase Aka.... He makes some valid points. Not everyday a 3 time premiership player, Brownlow Medalist, 2 x Best and Fairest becomes available :rolleyes:
He has explossive pass, one of the best dissposals by foot I've seen (both sides), and has exceptional finishing skills....
He could bring some valuable experience and class to our side. I think all will agree, Geelong lacks genuine pace, reliable dissposal, and leadership and experience on field. Someone to stand up in big games ...... This is Akamanis.
At the right price surely must be worth some thought?

Depends on what you give up. Not keen because of his age and his best is probably well and truly past. However, I suspect he wants a bigger stage than Geelong. So my tip is Essendon.

He would be good, I agree. But if the Brisbane Lions Leadership group had trouble with him just imagine our soft leadership group. He could actually have detrimental effect on the team in that regards. But the latest mail is that Essendon is a done deal.

What was Bombers excuse? Our leadership group isnt ready for someone like Akar at the club or something like that.

yeah look i agree with all posts...
Have also heard essondon deal al but sealed, Geelong probably is to small a stage for aka....
I just feel he has 3 - 5 years of good footy left, (Geelongs best chance for premiership glory is now!) He's in terrific shape and have second half of the year off will only help. And what better way for our young inexperienced leaders to learn, than from someone who talks the talk and backs it up with his on field performance. And on the biggest stage of all!
Price is definately a factor... I have suggested before that someone like J.Kelly would get the deal done. He is a fantastic talent. No doubt. Think it will be win/win.... Much in the same way as Schwass/Grant deal.
Yes we lose a great kid in Kelly. I feel we hve players to cover.
We hang on to our early picks, Draft Hawkins, Gain Aka!
The next 3 years become very inviting!
