Kicked a ton of goals before doing his knee in the feeder league, he has had one year on the bulldogs list, playing nearly all of his games for Werribee twos, those who have seen him play, what do you think, is he potentially a senior player, or one who will fall away???

Spoken to him a couple of times. I'm convinced he will be a player. Great attitude and really wants to play AFL.

I live in Brissy and go to uni with one of his best mates. He's confident he will be a player also:thumbsu:

If so, FF or CHF?

He's a FF type.

plays out of the goal square.

I haven't seen enough of him but watched the one senior game he played against port melbourne a couple of weeks back.
Didn't get much game time, didn't see much of the ball either but gave a very slick handball out to garth for a goal on the blindside, very nicely done.
Has good footy smarts but doesn't have the size yet.

He's a tall lad, will definately fill out well, not like a a cam wight sort!.
but for his role he'll need some more time.

Can't miss him on the footy field, he's got an enormous noggin. Got the nickname lamby from his furry hair but it's now been teased out into afro spikes. Looks like a dead ringer for 'tweak' from south park.

FF for sure-he will be a great get out option.

Thanks - so all we need in the future is a CHF and a CHB.....

I'm becoming more and more confident in Wight's ability to hold down CHB.

Grant will play for ever.......at CHF.

Well maybe not, but it would be nice.

Why?

Why?

He knows where to run, he's adept at cutting down space, he's a good spoiler and most importantly he gets better with each game. When (If) he gets stronger in the legs and can hold his position he will be a player.

Agreed, he's like a taller Hargrave. Lacks the real body strength for power forwards, but can play on a more leading tall, up the ground type from what I've seen. Hopefully he puts on about 4 or 5 kgs over the pre-season. That would be awesome.

One day one of our KPP recruiting punts will come off...maybe Big Mick's the one...

Wight doesn't need to be strong enough to push his opponent out of the way just strong enough to keep himself in the contest. His reach and spoiling ability mean that if he is in the contest he is going to be hard to take a mark on.Long way to go but I think the signs are good.

That's why leg strength is so important to him. If he can just stand up in the contest and not get pushed out his reach and anticipation should do the rest.

When do you think he is likely to press for the big league? Is it beyond the realm of possibility that he could push for selection next year, or more likely 2008?

I think the plan is for him to just play for the Bees in 2007. He is really dedicated to becoming a senior player.

While he is a big unit he is still going to have to convert a lot of his mass into muscle and that will take a while.

One day one of our KPP recruiting punts will come off...Harris at 71 was one I think came off pretty well. Skipper & Wight still have the jury out.
Given our lack of success with "flexible" talls, we may find our one-position bookends (Harris one end, West at the other once Darcy retires) become our better picks.
