I don't think Essendon will beat Richmond or the Bulldogs considering their form. But they did beat Collingwood ... if they can beat them, surely we're a chance? Right?
But we were "chances" vs Hawthorn and Richmond. Any expectation gets met with disappointement, but will we be able to rise vs the old foe when they are not playing too well? Last year we were a game away from 15th and from Collingwood getting the spoon. This year we are equal with Essendon ... but can we topple Collingwood's final 4 hopes AND give Essendon the spoon. That would be perfect. Couldn't bear 2 in a row, and the 2nd chance gone from driving a pike into a rival's heart.
This is a MUST WIN for sure. Personally not ending up with 2 spoons in a row and runining Collingwood's year is more preferable. Even if we miss out on Gibbs we can still pick up a good youngster at #2, and who knows - if the Dons get the spoon they might not pick Gibbs.
I EXPECT the players to play 4 quarters for this one. If we can do this, ala Essendon, we will win. They aren't in great form and Rocca and Tarrant are playing like our 2nd string forwards. Although Presti/Clement on Fev worries me - they have a good record on him and may be the difference between winning and losing.
If they cannot rise and at least make a game of it considering the circumstances, they never will. Come on Blues, made Eddie cry and hand over the spoon to Essendon!
