View Full Version : Carlton vs Collingwood will decide the spoon

I don't think Essendon will beat Richmond or the Bulldogs considering their form. But they did beat Collingwood ... if they can beat them, surely we're a chance? Right?

But we were "chances" vs Hawthorn and Richmond. Any expectation gets met with disappointement, but will we be able to rise vs the old foe when they are not playing too well? Last year we were a game away from 15th and from Collingwood getting the spoon. This year we are equal with Essendon ... but can we topple Collingwood's final 4 hopes AND give Essendon the spoon. That would be perfect. Couldn't bear 2 in a row, and the 2nd chance gone from driving a pike into a rival's heart.

This is a MUST WIN for sure. Personally not ending up with 2 spoons in a row and runining Collingwood's year is more preferable. Even if we miss out on Gibbs we can still pick up a good youngster at #2, and who knows - if the Dons get the spoon they might not pick Gibbs.

I EXPECT the players to play 4 quarters for this one. If we can do this, ala Essendon, we will win. They aren't in great form and Rocca and Tarrant are playing like our 2nd string forwards. Although Presti/Clement on Fev worries me - they have a good record on him and may be the difference between winning and losing.

If they cannot rise and at least make a game of it considering the circumstances, they never will. Come on Blues, made Eddie cry and hand over the spoon to Essendon!

If Collingwood was in your position and we were coming up against two out of form forwards like Taz and Rocca I would be extremely worried about playing them back into form.

Anyway I didn't come here to troll I came to ask a slighly irrelevant question about the priority pick rules. What's the go there?

Guys, the Hawks may have saved you from adding a spoon to the collection last night. Up to you guys now - but if it works out, you know where to send the Christmas card, okay? :D

I wish our guys would save themselves, but it's not likely. With our weak midfield, and assorted passengers, we're doomed to the spoon.

I only wish Essendon deserved it more, but honestly, they don't.

Don't hold your breath... In my mind, the spoon is ours and so is pick 1, pick 1 in the Pre-Season Draft and whatever else we get.

If we beat Collingwood, I'll be jumping for joy. But we won't.

Expect Rocca to kick 8 and Tarrant 6 if he plays. We will play them into form.

We may win if Stevens is dropped however.

Can't see it happening myself. Our form since the Melbourne game has been pretty terrible, and Collingwood will be all fired up to knock us off to try and secure a top 4 spot.

Clement will get the job on Fevola, and given his form at the minute, i'd imagine he'd keep him in reasonable check.

If Stevens is dropped one of the youger players (?Simpson) will get tagged and we definitely won't win then.
