It's fairly odds on that we're getting the number 1 pick ($1.13 to be precise,) so in short who's your pick for our number one.

Our midfield needs the most work IMO, so therefore i'd take Gibbs with our No.1 Pick.

If we finish last. Gibbs is a certainty. We need more class in the midfield.

We need to work on some players who can break the lines from HBF with later picks.

Any thoughts

after watching a bit of Gibbs you can't go past his ability to read the ball off packs and around it, take him for sure.

Ricky Petterd and Joseph Anderson would be good value at around the 17-19 area.

For a late smokey I like Nick McKenna. He's Key Position size with a real explosiveness about him. Could be a Clement-style defender or a good long-term Full Forward prospect.

I've liked Petterd since the championships. I wouldn't mind us picking him up with our second round pick.

Brock O'Brien for 2nd pick is EXACTLY what we are looking for.

Would be a really good pick up if he made it that far. His quality disposal would be a welcome addition. One of the better users by foot in the draft.

Does anyone know if Josh Drummond is out of contract? He would be a good player at that No.1 PSD pick. I think he is, but I'm not 100% sure.

That would be a good get and might also solve the back pocket problem I think we have.

I'm on the Gibbs bandwagon too. I haven't seen him play but from reports which I have read he sounds like the classy midfielder we're searching for.

Second choice would have to be Hanson, similarily to due to the reports which I have read on him.

Gibbs. Supposedly in great form in the SANFL, would have to be first on our list considering our lack of top class midfielders.

Has the necessary pace, which we are critically short of.

Gibbs and Murphy are just gonna push each other for all the time theyre at the club, and are going to be that much better for it.

Scary

Any news on Sellar anyone? I believe he was in the top 5 picks earlier in the year, and seems to not even be an option to take any more. Where is he on the draft?

I thought Sellar had a knee injury which, with the talent available has seen him drop off the radar. Could sneek through to later picks.

I'd imagine that he would still go in the top 10, although it depends on how the ladder finally finishes up, and what each club decides is their greatest need.

That's what I keep thinking about as well. Add Simpson and the ever improving Walker to that midfield, and we will have the makings of a super midfield.

If Carlton pick up Bryce Gibbs, there's going to be a struggle for the captaincy between him and Marc Murphy ;)

Totally agree Gibbs is a certainty, also speed is a must. If there is a potential key position back or ruckmen at pick 17 or 18 we should take them.

With the other 2nd round pick & 3rd round pick, 2 quick runners is a must.

Gibbs could become a Hird, Buckley,Bruce type of player.

Easy, we'll just make them both captains. What a "good" problem to have. :thumbsu:

It would depend on their maturity, leadership skills and their passion for the team. At this point the whole Gibbs going back to Adelaide thing or Murphy wanting to stay in Vic thing leans me towards Murphy.

But we'll see...first we have to find a captain for next year.

GIBBS!! No second thoughts, no debate. Get him if we can. I watch Glenelg most weeks and Bryce reads the play better than just about any 17 year old I've seen. Other teams have tried to rough him up at times and he still keeps his head and plays a great game. A great sign of maturity IMO.

These other guys may be very good (i haven't seen much of them) but if we have the chance to take Gibbs and don't - I reckon we'll regret it.

He has a forwards instinct when he plays in the forward line too. This kid could be anything

Sellar needs to grow, quickly. Just too short to justify taking him really high up as a ruckman. If he gets to 17 he'll likely be a blue though.

No way known he'll get to #17.

Definitely Bryce Gibbs. He is the best available at #1 and Carlton (who should win the spoon) will severely regret it if they don't pick him. Has every attribute they need, for a 17yo his football brain and general footy smarts are that of a 250+ AFL footballer. Extremely mature kid and wonderfully gifted with graceful skills. Will be a major gun for next 15years.

As for Sellar, he has BUCKETLOADS of natural talent but he is VERY LAZY. Little things like leaving footy boots at home when rocking up to training don't exactly please coaches. Started the year playing great footy, and his SANFL debut was excellent, powerful marking and kickd 4 goals. Was everywhere. Slowly dropped off since then, and championship form wasn't anything like him. Nothing at all, so anyone judging him just on that is misguided and jumping to conclusions. His best position or type of role at AFL level is a Lucas or Pavlich role, not really a ruckman, even now he isn't that good as a ruckman against ppl his height, he can jump a lot but doesn't have a ruck brain. He does however possess the cleanest hands below his knees for a 'big man' I have seen so things like that help his case.

If he sorts himself out from his slump and is 100% committed he will be a very very good AFL player. Has ability to be the #1 pick ahead of Gibbs, but that certainly won't be the case now. Gibbs is the man.

I agree and for everyone that is saying we need someone who can play on the half back flank, that is were gibbs likes to be played, he can rotate through the middle and half back and walker does a great job off half back and will only get better.

I doubt he will still be round by the 2nd round. Wish he is though.
