View Full Version : Diamond Valley Under 19s
Any news on clubs who are putting forward under 19s next year. I know watsonia are pushing for a under 19s side, hoping to play friday night home games, looking to build the clubs youth.
Callum Dean, ex st damians...promising player who is wanting to quit footy, has very good skills and if does a pre season wil be a very good diamond valley footballer

Can confirm that Watsonia are going to play an under 19s side next year. If anyone is in that age group feel free to come down and train/try out.

Heard that at least 6 St Damians players are going to do preseason at Watsonia including the porno king. The rest is going to be made up of St Mary's and Bundoora boys

That sounds about spot on greatguy, it is something like 6-12 players from St Damians and the rest from St Mary's and around that area. Sounds like you've got the same mail as me.

you will need 25+ to be sure that the team fields. Watsonia tried last season but couldnt get the numbers and it took mernda three seasons to get a team together. as for west heidelberg, well, good luck, as heidelberg pinch all their potential players.

From what I hear 25+ players is just about sown up. Watsonia already has a few 19s players playing in there reserves and seniors so if they need to fill in for the 19s (which should not be the case) it would be no problem.

from what i know is that the boys goin to watsy 19s next year is Tom Mcluskey, Gary Ring. and id assume matt corcoran might have a run down there this year. cant see too many other blokes goin there from st damians, and as of now, no higher profile st marys players going to watsy

These are players who play in colts and the clubs they are thinking about playing at next year, that I know of:
Tom McClusky, Gary Ring, Jesse Braszell - Watsonia
Luke Shelton, Jayden Price, Liam O'Donnell (should be playing knights though) - Bundoora
Luke Soligo (currently playing for OP 19's), Andrew Tulipano - Eltham
I'm pretty sure the decent players from Yarrambat will be heading over to Eltham or Diamo

I know for a fact that there is already 12 players that have signed up, and they are speaking to a few more at the moment. And if anyone on here is eligible for under 19s you should get your ass down there cos you'd have and absolute ball. Top blokes!!

Would have to ask the Watsonia under 19s coach Rick Le gasick for the names (had a list of them). But was confirmed at our meeting after our last training when all the seniors and reserves boys were in the rooms.

good to hear. similar to that of eltham, giving the current 17s who just won the flag a letter regarding the under 19s season, and askin to get players who are finishing there junior careers at clubs.

I think Ryan Ewing form West Preston- is a really good player for them having played some senior football in the last 2 years. The only thing that lets him down is his discipline, he was suspended during the year for 4 weeks for a mallicious strike.

Nath Thomas really did impress me when i saw him play in the seniors and i would rather Summers in my team than Ward. Assad Seamann, Hoody and Rohan King are all good players but not in the best 18, in my opinion.
Attard and Ewing are both very good players but have both had terribly interupted seasons this year but are still good enough to be in.
Santorro and Baldwin would make the cut, Micevski great player but VFL listed. TAC or VFL players werent considered.

Eltham have had strong U17s for at least the last 3 or 4 years but havnt been able to fill an U19 team for these same years. whats going to be different next year? Dont get me wrong the sooner they do get a side the better the 3rds competion is going to be but I just cant see it happening myself.

Its pretty hard to say that they are def gettin 19s but they should cos there 17s are an awesome unit. how would you know if bulleen or ivanhoe were better than eltham they have never played, as for recruits not exactly sure who but have heard that they should get some average to decent players from yarra league clubs

there is about 6-10 definate additions to the team this year and majoirty are stayin on from this year. im pretty confident are few other blokes wil be goin to eltham 19s, some of those potentially from Yarrambat.

i can tel you that becuse the skil level of both ivanhoe and bulleen are alot better, game plans and the way they move the ball around is alot more evident within them two teams, compared to that of eltham. dont get me wrong, eltham are a good team and im plannin to be down there next year. but they would not be bulleen or ivanhoe.

i can tel you that becuse the skil level of both ivanhoe and bulleen are alot better, game plans and the way they move the ball around is alot more evident within them two teams, compared to that of eltham. dont get me wrong, eltham are a good team and im plannin to be down there next year. but they would not be bulleen or ivanhoe.
Why is your name dv07 if you love yarra teams, anyway i dont know enough about those two to comment but if you are planning to be down at eltham next year good luck get a starting 18 position.

na i didnt say i love them mate i just know they r very good teams, i went to both the dv and yarra gf's and the yarra was alot more skilful.
im pretty sure id get a starting 18 position there mate, considering im playin 19s already and i played school football with TAC blokes gettin a statrting 18 position. dont want to sound cocky.
where r u from neway
I say come down to Watsonia U19s where you will definately enjoy yourselves!!
Yarra is a lot better than DV, I've played both leagues, watched both grand finals and the Yarra grand final was MILES ahead of the DV one in every aspect.

yarra jfl alot better competition....you may say that it is softer but it only looks like that coz the ball is moved so much better and skillfully whereas dv is conjested bull****...Wen u come up against blokes like Clarke, Hayden Bryce, Hummer i wouldnt call it soft...
Dale Equid will be a very handy player for Eltham 19s next year...very solid down back.

i thought i might aswell have a go at making a side. having played in both divisions and gathering other information from this thread i've came up with.
B: Gleeson Equid McQueen
(Mont) (L/Plenty) (D/Creek)
HB: Dagher Summers Neil
(W/Preston) (Lalor) (Mont)
C: Shaw Berak Holmes
(L/Plenty) (T'town) (W/Preston)
HF: Bailey Fairchild Tenace
(Lalor) (G'borough) (L/Plenty)
F: Whittaker Lynch Coen
(W/Preston) (Macleod) (W/Preston)
Rucks: Atkins Mitchell Brown
(G'borough) (Bund) (N/Park)
Int: Bennett Dennis Dyson Gibson
(Macleod) (Bund) (Wh'sea) (H'bridge)
Emg: Steven Toll Walsh
(Mont) (Wh'sea) (H'bridge)
Noticed no one has included Adam Coff in their best U/19's side. Would surely get a spot in the side. Played his first senior game at 15 and was best on last week for Whittlesea seniors in their losing final.

Guys,
I told you all a few days ago, West are a class above everybody.
Don't be suprised if Mont knock off Bundy this week.

Any news on this kids future for next year. It will be interesting to see if he gets picked up in this years draft as a smokey and that is pretty likely judging by the amount of interest he is attracting. Has been likened to a young Wayne Carey in his hey day. Mops up superbly down back but is also known to drift down and play as a bustling CHF and snag a few goals

Holy child from broadmeadows are lookin to put forward a side next year. Apparently hunting down Andrew Fillipi for captain and David mcgrath for head coach.
The only players i rated this year for Wallan under 19s were: Collier and Zerrella. What do u guys think?

Where is Luke Soligo heading? Eltham? Diamond Creek? he wil be very organised and ready to say where he is playing in exactly 1 month, 2 weeks, 5 days, 18 hours and 23.5 seconds.

I hear Lukey boy is heading to panther place in the next 4 weeks 6 days and 7 hours. He is ferociously training and will be ready for next year. very efficient with rdi's and apparently he studies 3 + 4 pe.

He's peaking in the pre season, will rock up to every game in a limo you would think, if hes organised enough that is.

Hes organised a limo dont worry about that. Hes actually rocking up to round 3 and 7 in a helicopter. He is a gun and would be serviceable to any club.
cant really say too much bout the bloke.
dont see how that is relevant in this thread.
umm i heard panther might not be gettin under 19s next year, its gonna be a hard decision to make for any bloke who wants to get a gig down there.

Should get one.... a good club, good environment, u17s are a freakish unit, unbelievedly skilled and muscular, so should be good next year IF a side is manufactured.

Is is going to be under 18's or 19's comp next year for the diamond valley league? I've heard news that they might revert to a 18's system or was it all speculation?

Great Pick up Reporter,
West have been a certain class above the rest since they had that kick in the pants against Epping, they grew and became tighter since that loss. Whereas when Bundoora were beaten by Lalor they kept on their arrogant ways, not learning from the loss. If I was a WPL player I would be thanking Epping for embarrassing them in round 10.
In saying this though Bundoora didnt play as bad as what the scoreboard says, they had probably just as much of the ball as WPL but they had no forward structure. The centre clearances would have been ridiculously high favouring the bulls but the Lakies back line was fantastic.
I would have given the votes accordingly:
3. Tom O'Neil (#27 WPL)
2. Rohan King (#24 Bun)
1. Ryan Ewing (#1 WPL)

I ll give you that one, GST, as you are close to the mark he isnt that good just but he did play well on the weekend in a fairly scrappy game. But you wouldnt know that seeing you werent actually at the game.
By they way how is that Mad Monday hang ova going for you mate, still dry reaching! LOL

last year the clubs got to vote whether or not they wanted an 18s comp and then an under 20s comp.. both being apart of the senior club i believe.
if they were to get 18s the 17s wuld have to be scrapped so there would be bottom age under 18s. whereas if u have 18s u cant have 19s cause many clubs wont be able to fill a side.
it would be great if the dv clubs decided on it, but i believe that under 18s if they were to run, should be apart of the juniors and have under 20s that are apart of the seniors.
any news on it?
