Hey I was just wondering how Paul Bower did on the weekend? Did he take any good marks or get many possesions? I heard he got 25 touchs last week. Could he be the center half back we're looking for. Will he ever be big enough to play on the monsters like Johnathon Brown. Thorton is doing well right now but is probably not really big enough to play on these sort of guys. Lastly do you think he is any chance of debuting this season or do you think Pagan will wait?

Going by Pagan's comments, won't play:
"We've played nearly all of our young guys, there's a couple there that we wanted to knock on the door a bit harder, (but) they didn't do that."

Add some muscle to Carlos, he'll be the gorilla we are looking for - tall, fast, long strong arms (can anyone say Dustin?). Obviously needs to continue to work on skills and knowledge but 8 weeks next to big red has seen leaps and bounds aleady.

^^^ I think you've hit the nail on the head there BB. If Setanta can continue to learn from Lance, then this might fast track his development as a key backman. Anyone with his size and athletisism has to be persisted with.

I'd be surprised if Bower gets a senior game this season, now that Setanta is pretty much guaranteed to play the last two matches.

Bower will probably be a HBF for the next couple of seasons whilst he bulks up. He'll be the ideal opponent for the tall mobile forwards like Franklin, Staker, Reiwoldt, Tarrant, Embley, Lucas. He is a naturally attacking defender, so we'd be looking to play him up around Half Back as opposed to deep in defense if possible.

He won't be playing on the likes of Rocca, Hall, J.Brown, Q.Lynch, Thompson or Richo until he has the body to do so.

are we going to win a flag when all these players mature and can start playing consistent footy for a season, let alone a game. We've got all these young tall backs and young midfielders developing when are we going to be genuine finals contenders?

prob 2-3 years before we make finals

4+ years to be a genuine premiership contender

I'd prefer the match committee to take a steady as she goes approach with Bower and Hartlett. We really don't need to rush them.
