The Geelong Football Club’s number 15 has had an unforgettable 15 years of football.
Members and supporters who will be attending the game on Saturday August 26 are invited to come early to pay tribute to the Cats’ third longest serving player.
The Geelong Football Club will pay tribute to veteran footballer Peter Riccardi before the match at Skilled Stadium.
The great Cat will be honored and recognized for his 288 brilliant games with the Cats, prior to the Geelong v Melbourne match.
Riccardi announced his retirement from AFL football following the round 19 game against St Kilda, after he endured a hamstring injury in the first quarter.
At midday Riccardi, his wife Melony, son Osca and family will be attending the president’s lunch which will pay special tribute to Riccardi.
His team mate from his early Geelong Football Club years; Billy Brownless will be the MC and will interview Riccardi at the luncheon.
At 1:45pm, the ground announcer will introduce Riccardi onto Skilled Stadium and speak of his tremendous career.
Supporters will have the chance to cheer for Riccardi and show their appreciation of the entertaining football he has provided over the years, while Riccardi and Osca are escorted around the oval in a car.
The big screen will display footage of Riccardi and his on field highlights as the lap of honour takes place.
Riccardi will welcome the Cats onto the field and then will watch the rest of the game with his family.
Supporters must arrive early to take part in this history making moment.
