Premiership Quarter

Is this a win win trade or what...both went about the same in their respective drafts. We need a young quality ruckmen and they need a yound midfielder to replace ageing stars...just dont tell them that were not sure he's going to make it.

Cant see it happening.

:D Seriously how is he going? He wasn't really rated as highly but then jumped up pretty high. Then again what do we know. AFL clubs know a stack more than us. The few AFL games he has played in e hasn't really done that well, playing mainly in defense IIRC. Hows his VFL form? And what position does he play?

Can't see the Crows going for that one, but who knows what can happen in trade week. Russell does not have any runs on the board, and i'm sure the Carlton people would like to give him some more time to develop.

Neither does Meeson really, i think this trade is possible as Russels from SA and Meeson apparently homesick.

So why can't we get him for nothing in the PSD and keep Russell at Carlton?

I'm guessing that there would be other Victorian clubs interested in him and I doubt Adelaide would be as stubborn as Port and lose him for nothing.
That said, I doubt we would trade Russell. Frankly, Hughes rated him quite highly and with only 2 years development in him I'm sure he would want to see what he can offer in a few years time.

I'm all for getting Meeson at Carlton, but definitely not at the expense of another promising youngster.
So a no from me-rather get him in the PSD hopefully :)

You'd like to think that Carlton have been talking to his manager about him returning to Victoria. It would be great if we could pick him up in the PSD for nothing.

Denis did say that the club were trying to lure some homesick Victorian kids to the club. So that means we probably have contacted his manager.

Is Meeson rated any higher than McLaren was?
Back up ruckmen are backup for a reason. Any crows listening? Whats his form like?

Meeson hasn't even shown very much at SANFL level... Russell has, on occasion, torn up the VFl and looked reasonable at AFL level.
I understand the through process, but no.

Thats enough for me. What about Gardiner in PSD? We haven't gone well with troubled souls in the past (McGuane, Angwin, Norman), do we risk it?
French was good last week. Would negate this whole conversation if he was consistent!

no - your wrong there
Meesons form has been inconsistent in the SANFL but is the Legs first choice ruckman
His big problem is Biglands and Clarke are ahead of him and the hard working (but probably less talented) Maric dominated the Pies team which knocked him back a bit - he doesn't seem to work has hard as Maric but then that is most probably one of those eye of the beholder things
. last week he still had 18-20 touches and 20 hitouts in a team that got flogged by 50 points

on what ive seen of him that sounds about right, hes young though and could be alright
had for him to get a go with the 2 starters + maric (who has done well when he had chances) and hudson now. surely the crows dont need him that badly unlike the other deluca situation. with only 2 ageing players ahead of him

You'd hope the Club wasn't contacting anyone at this stage as it would be tantamount to draft tampering, but Carlton would never do that ...

He's just had the misfortune of coming to a club that's had remarkable sucess on the field recently and in avoiding injuries which has made it hard for many youngsters to get a game.
At a team which has struggled with injury, form and lack of height such as: Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, St. Kilda or the Western Bulldogs I think he probably would of played most of the games this season however at Adelaide he has to push past Biglands, Hudson, Clarke and now Maric.

Your right in assuming every team with a high Pre Season Draft pick does it, however it doesn't make it any more legal. And with the AFL's attitude towards you guys I think I would avoid crossing over any lines!
