Im extremely interested, I say Ablett, but lots of people are huge Kent fans.

every geelong supporter will say ablett.

if you swapped their names and kent was nathan and nathan was kent....i know you guys would be choosing any player with the last name ablett.

that guy called Kent_Kingsley might vote for him?

Bring on Ablett, Kinglesy has had enough chances. His season was nothing but pathetic this year.

yea and i'd also rather see ablett for the fact he is much younger than kent and needs to get more experience in the afl

I didn't read the poll and voted - and yes, I voted for Kinglsley...

I would like Ablett to be given chances in the seniors in the remaining games, however if it were a crunch game tomorrow I'd take Kingsley in a heartbeat!!!

57, 33, 48, 57 ain't a bad lead up prior to this season, it will be a long time before we start seeing Nathan producing those figures.

All the same, id want Nath given every possible chance, but if it was a grand final and that was the last position to pick, I'd go with Kingsley easily at this stage.

I voted for Kent purely for trade value reasons. In the last two rounds he could kick a few goals and raise his trade value.

NAblett will be here next season regardless.

I didn't take trade value into consideration.

Both have been really up and down, and there is two options here.

1. Play KK, get him ready for trading, give him every opportunity to kick goals and rise his stock. If he kicks say 3-4 goals this week, anything could happen against the Hawks, especially a cat avalanche due to the poor display early in the year. This means KK may have a chance of kicking an absolute bag if we hit them hard, thus improving our possible trade options.

2. Give NA a go, give him some real game time at the top level to ensure he is ready to go for next season.

The main point here though is to the match committee. Stick by one player for the rest of the season. Don't swap and change them, give the guys a chance. Their inability to hold onto players this year has been terrible, leading to poor form of some of our senior players.

If NA is the future we should have played him more than 70% of the games this year mainly for the development.

It looks as if MT has coached for his ass once the season went pear shape....I can't really blame the guy but because of this the development of the young blokes has gone backwards

Whats your thoughts?

Go for the future, I reckon. Kent has been in the team for years and hasn't really produced the goods - sure, he's been the leading goalscorer, but he simply hasn't done enough, and this year he has been nothing short of terrible. Nath has shown flashes of what he's capable of, and I am quite certain that his best will be far better than Kent's best. He seems to be in good form in the twos and the next couple of weeks might be a good time to play him.

Wrong dude. At the moment Kingsley is clearly the superior player. Nathan Ablett has more potential, and obviously youth on his side, but he's not there yet. What frustrates every Geelong supporter is not Kingsley's talent - because he does have talent - but his endeavour and commitment.

Dream Team 2006
23 Aug 2006, 16:49
At the end of last year and the start of this year Kent Kingsleys endeavour was not even close to what some of the other guys at the club had (James Bartel, Cam Mooney etc.)

Although i did watch him very closely in a game in the twos and his endeavour was fantastic to watch, he was chasing backmen down and tackling them hard, going hard into the packs and feeding out the ball to the blokes on the outside.

If it takes that to get some passion back into him, then i say play him one more time and see what he can do, see if he wants to play AFL football.

jess_555

Nathan should play this week. Kent should be banned from playing AFL after that SHOCKING out of bounds kick when he was going for goal last week in the VFL. You would think he would have lost ALL confidence after the kick and the crowds response.

Go Nate! :thumbsu:

It's true that KK's demise is purely his own, he has all the pace in the world to get out on a lead, especially in the first 10mtrs, but when it comes to chasing down someone he is terrible.

I will give him this though, he has been a great forward for us. Kicking 40-50+ goals at AFL level is pretty good.

The only problem is that he is coached by none other than Ken Hinkley. Since both Lovett and Hinkley came to the team it has steadily dropped off in skill level by all players.

KK is a good option to keep, put him in the pocket alongside Ottens, with Stokes/Gamble and have Ablett/Chapman coming in from the flanks.

If KK is traded, swap him out with Nath and let the kid develop by simply playing against the best.

Definately Nathan.

With no chance for the finals there is no better time to get some more AFL experience into him.

No pressure... but I hope he does well this weekend. Best of luck to him.

I'm leaving for the game in about 2 hours, When Nathan kicks a goal it really brings the crowd to their feet and gets the players up and about. Hope he does well today.

Ablett offered a lot more and kicked a couple and gave off another couple. Kingsley ran around with stone hands and dropped everything that came near him.

Nathan Ablett was impressive today IMO, took eight marks and kicked a few goals. I think he still has a very big future, as a neutral fan but a massive Ablett fan i really hope so.

N.Ablett played his best game for the club today... He looked hungry and committed at the contest... He also showed alot of poise and vision around the stoppages, something Kingsley completely lacks.

I was hoping someone was going to mention that. He actually almost did it the ball up, in the same spot, just a few seconds before that aswell. It was like he decided he was going to go in and get the ball. Which is great as it showed his willingness to win his own ball.

Nathan needs to work hard over summer to get fit and get a huge pre-season under his belt.

Him at full fitness and Tom Hawkins playing together should be the future foward line of this club.
