View Full Version : Were their hearts in it last week?

I know this is a little controversial, but I thought GT's comments before last week's game were a bit odd. Here it is from the Saints website:

"Would you sacrifice a top-four position to be right on top of your game?" he pondered aloud.

"I think most teams would, but if you're not right on top of your game and you're in the top four you've got an extra life - I suppose they cancel each other out.

"What I'd like to do is probably not be in super form, have a top-four position and then get the players in good form - that'd be the right way to be."

And then we went out and got pantsed by Freo. I couldn't help but think that GT had decided two out of the last 3 would be good enough and that if we won against Freo, that would be a bonus.

Did anyone else think those comments were odd?

I think he's just wrong on this one.

We could finish fifth or sixth, win the first final, and end up in Sydney, Adelaide or Perth for the second round.

I wouldn't read too much into our loss though. We were just smashed by a team that was far more hungry. If we play to a similar level on friday night it will happen again.

im with you mate i have been discussing it all week with my mate they reccon im full of it which is partly true but in this instance i think your right... why when your trying to win the game and are getting smashed at CHF would you put your best option in Roo floating in the back line? to conserve percentage maybe? weather it was what he waqs thinking and weather it was the right way to go will yet to be seen
