Is anyone else a bit bewildered by Fiora's exclusion from the side? In my opinion his last three weeks have been his best of the year. He has come off a season high for disposals last week. In the last three weeks he has has averaged 15 disposals and before that from Round 10 to 17 where he kept his spot for all those games he averaged only 10 disposals.

Very odd, especially when you consider the 3 ins against the pacy bulldogs. Maybe Grant is banking on the ball never hitting the deck?

I have to agree that this last few weeks have been the best form he's been in this year. A bit unlucky - especially with the number of question marks with fitness and injury to other players this week.

He is not particularly accountable and in the, admittedly limited, time I have seen him play, does not finish particularly well when it matters. I would love to see him “blossom” to fulfil his potential, but at this time of year it is more important to get the core players together and fit.

Welcome also, Saucehead. You're completely right about Fiora's accountability but we can't be choosy because we have so many injuries. Of those onballers who are fit, two of them - Powell and McGough - are simply too slow for league footy. And when you consider Fiora's improvement I just think it's the wrong idea to drop him right now.

Couldn't of said it better myself..give him a bit of time and hes vrilliant when under the pump he crumbles.

wouldnt get rid of him though keep him for one more seaseon my gut is telling me he is about to come good

Got no problems with the ins - Powell, Hamill & Ackland.

Fiora is stiff, really didn't get enough game time last week in Perth. Last month has been handy.

I probably would have dropped Peckett. No real difference between the two, but Fiora's form has been better recently.

Frankie's not as quick as Fizz, but he's a lot smarter a player.

i hate peckett.....

extremely good at making space...and positioning...

yet as a direct result...extremely poor at taking a man and being accountable.

(once again impossible to see on TV screens)

Thank you spanner for another well thought through and logical arguement.

It is so easy to see why tactical and long thinking strategies don't get past you - plus ofcourse you have the envious and much cherished abilty to see the game on the field whereas the other 30,000 odd supporters still insist on watching the screens at the grounds.

Please keep up the mails I feel my understanding of football (and life in general) is expanding and being truely enriched.

pecket is argueable the worst player in the afl currently getting a game. i am not trying just to put him down i am just being realistic. he doesnt an up, he cant kick, he makes the wrong decisions and he is slow. when we were struggleing against west coast fiora came on and gave something, he had a dip and took some bounces and a nice specky and goal, pecket is no good, i thought grant was just trying to get him to 250 games then we would not see him again i am very surpirsed he is in
