View Full Version : James Kelly
I know there has been plenty of threads about him. But what does everyone think about his chances at Geelong next year? He doesnt look like playing another game this year. Unless he plays in round 22. What would he be worth? and would people be willing to trade him? I also think that if a new coach comes in he will stay, Although if Bomber stays what is seeming more likely as the days go on he would be traded.

Keep him
he's only young and I believe he still has alot of development left in him
if we did trade him I'd guess a second round pick??

I'd be hanging onto Kel. Has had an ordinary year but don't forget he was our form player 12 months ago. Having said that, I would think if he was offered he would be worth more than a second round pick. Would want a first rounder as he's a proven midfielder. Maybe a trade for Jarred Brennan would be considered. Both talented but out of favour.

Jarred Brennan" no thanks, all Kelly needs is a proper pre season behind him and this will be a whole new topic next year.

I've heard that he could possibly be gone at the end of the year.
He was pretty crap in the VFL today.

i'd be listening to trades for him... i'd take a pick between 10-20 for him... gettting rid of him might send a rocket up the remaining players that mediocrity is not an option.

He just can't kick. I only saw the last half in the VFL today, but he can't hit targets. Very frustrating. I think he's contracted until 2007 or 2008 though.:thumbsd:
pick 10-20 in a strong draft might be alright and if not an established mid sized inside player with good skills and a defense side to his game (when required eg. does tackle in the forward 50)

Contracts can be broken, but I'm not sure if they cost the club money or not.

The contract would be a consideration on any trades as it has happened in the past that the original club pays some of the players salary at the new club

Has had two interrupted pre-seasons, so I'm willing to give him another chance.
How was he ordinary in the VFL yesterday? I watched the game from start to finish and would have awarded him BOG... surely back in the seniors next week with Lonergan out (inj) and Kingsley possibly dropped to make way for Mackie.
Gamble also a chance to play seniors, would have played this wk but had the dihorea all week (as did many other players) and hence he played 2's because he couldn't train one night.

1 more chance imo. Unless we can get a good draft pick for him.
