No problems with 'Spida'

Hawthorn skipper Richie Vandenberg says the club's leadership group has "no issues" with ruckman Peter Everitt, in regards to the uncertainly surrounding 'Spida's' future with the club at the season's end.

Although Everitt's season ended after round 17, due to an ankle injury, Vandenberg said it would simply be a wait-and-see situation in regards to how the big man's future would pan out after round 22.

"We've got no issues with 'Spida' and the process that is taking place we obviously need to wait until the right time of year for all of this to unfold," Vandenberg said before leaving Melbourne for Hawthorn's clash against the Kangaroos at Aurora Stadium on Saturday.

"I think 'Spida' would just like to get to the end of the season and then he'll sit down and make a decision on whether he wants to make a commitment to Hawthorn or whether he feels it's best for him and the club to move on."

"But once he makes the decision within himself, then he'll sit down with the footy club and I'm sure they'll take it from there."

Asked if he would be surprised if Everitt was not at Hawthorn next season, Vandenberg said with a laugh: "I'm never surprised in footy."

"Every year something seems to jump out of the box and you just never quite know what's going to happen, but 'Spida' is a fantastic player and he's been a great player for a very long time and obviously he'd be important to us.

"He has to make the decision on what he wants to do."

Vandenberg was also adamant that the issue of Everitt appearing on Fox Footy last round without the club knowing - 'Spida' provided special comments for Hawthorn's clash against Essendon at Telstra Dome - had been dealt with and was now over.

"As a playing group, we're confident that the coaches and the administration have sat down with 'Spida' and all the issues relating to 'Spida' have been resolved and we're more than happy with the outcomes," Vandenberg said.

Priorities..............The game, then the colours, then the player. BUT keeping the human sentiment in the game is special too, such as so many posters suggesting JB should get an opportunity next week in our last home match, and Rawlings and Rioli and so on. Go for it Spida, YOU have been a special chapter of the HFC, in the likes of Paul Salmon. So be it with us or elsewhere, may a lot of your PB football be still in front of you.

Dunno scoop - keep sniffing and come back with a story for us.

That's pretty much it.......I had a bit of a look yesterday.

Apperantly a couple of the senior players "questioned" Spida about a Raffle that had something to do with the Hathorn FC. Apperantly, Spida's mate won the prize - fair enough some might say - but (that word again), APPARENTLY, Spida drew the raffle.....

This is from the mouths of the media so who knows what to belive, although, Crawf said on the Footy Show that something like that happened but he wasn't actually there.

Messy.

Even if it's 100% legit it still doesn't look good - nice timing though.

Its gotta be hard to rig a raffle in front of ppl though.......surely they would have checked it after to make sure his mates entry wasn't the only one :o

Checking what Spida does hasn't been the clubs strongest point recently.

May need to put a permanent GPS vest on him.

Robbie Campbell is our number one ruckman now. A much more congenial situation IMO. Now we need a couple of understudies for him.

I have the hots for him at the moment. Oh, and before anyone questions my sexual preferences I mean in a football sense :o .

Did anyone notice the shirt Spida was wearing on the newsclip about the raffle? He was walking out to his car in a white T-shirt with red trimmings. Everything except the Swans logo on it. Coincidence? Probably. Poor choice? I think so.

I remember at a local footy club they had a raffle and the guy who drew out the winning ticket pulled out his own.

Apparently he bought the last 3 books of tickets.

Does anyone know how many tickets spida sold?
