How bad were these two stiffs on the Allan Border medal telecast?
Eddie tried hard to liven things up but let's face it - cricket is not his bag.
As for Ritchie, well I'm one of his biggest fans, but he looked like he'd just been wheeled out of Madame Tussauds for the evening - he seemed to be on 7 second delay all night!
What is his aversion to facing the camera?
Poor old Derek Randall, talk about being the meat in the sandwich!!

Acyually, I thought they were both terrific. Ritchies one-liner was the funniest thing I've heard in ages.:p

It's not a sensational nights viewing, but I did watch it. Well done to Matty Hayden, Darren Lehmann, Shane Watson and Ricky Ponting. I thought the start with the kid and the cricket ball was tacky. Reminded me of those stupid openings they had on Channel 7's Friday night footy.
Eddie just looks like he's born to be in front of the camera, but I'm not so sure about Richie anymore. Dippers Donuts you say "he looked like he'd just been wheeled out of Madame Tussauds for the evening" :) :) :) He's always been a bit motionless, even with the matchday hosting. Still it was good to see he didn't wear the old cream Wide World of Sports suit that he always wears.

I thought the whole thing was put together very well. Eddie MacGurie with his half a dozen chins and Richie Benaud were great, loved Hayden's speech and his little slip up... "the ladies in the dressing room" :D:D:D
The bit with Derek Randall and the 1977 Centenery Test special was very good. Nice to see Hooksy and Greiggy back on the MCG together 25 years later.
All in all, a great night for cricket!! :):)

Thank God Matty Hayden won the medal! I had a bet going with my family that if he didn't win, then I'd have to get Darren Lehmann's name and number put on the back of my brand new Australian Jersey.
It was funny to see Lehmann win the state cricketer of the year for the third year in a row...goes to show he may be a good state cricketer, but can't play for Australia.
Also funny to see Shane Warne finish 2nd - ever the bridesmaid!

Well its hard to play well for Australia when they don't pick you.

Oh yeah, can't play....49n.o. to save an innings in his latest effort for Oz really shows he isn't up to international standards.

Yeah good luck to the winners, let's hope they aren't stricken by the AB medal curse (see Colin Miller and Michael Slater).
Loved watching the Centenary test vision, how about Randall - struck on the head by Dennis Lillee without wearing a helmet!!
Not only that he gets straight back up, rubs his head and he's ready to go. Unbelievable...these days a player gets hit on the helmet and is then taken to hospital for observation.
What about Bacchus Marsh? How stumpy was he?:p
Eddie McChins should stick to footy he had absolutly no idea.

Had a sixth sense about that bit that beingdire so just switched channels while it was on. I watched a fair chunk of it this year and it has its advantages over the Brownlow, as the vote-reading can be continued in a fraction of the time. Not exactly sure about Mark Taylor's reading of the votes; made me almost yearn for the efforts of Wayne Jackson. :o
Enjoyed the Hookes/Grieg nostalgia - one thing that struck me about the last of those five boundaries was that if the English fielder chasing it had put a proper effort in (by today's standards) he would've hauled it in easily. Almost an escort service.

This cannot be let through to the keeper.
They say that one act of bad judgement does not a character make.
Your statement above is, how do you say, a piece of crap.
Clean up your act.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, but I have despised Darren Lehmann ever since the World Cup Final in 99. When he was dropped from the one day team after the cup, he crapped on about how much of a champion player he was and how good he was, and how the selectors shouldn't have dropped him.
I believe that they dropped him for Damien Martyn, who has shown that he's a quality player.
I give credit to the bloke for playing well for S.A and force his way back into the team, but, as per what I said above, I just can't stomach a person who big notes himself.
I personally believe that there are a number of players who deserved Lehmanns spot, but as was said previous, he did make 49 n.o against South Africa, which goes a long way to showing that may deserve that spot.
(gees I feel like Dermie with all those I's):D

Darren Lehmann is giving a very good impression of Uncle Fester these days...
