What do people think about the possibility of trading James Kelly? He hasn't been in great form all year, can't even break into the team when we aren't in the top 8 or finals.

I know he has great skills and heaps of potential, but hes not overly quick and would definately attract lots of interest!

Whats the vibe?

I would trade Ling and King before Kelly.

yeah but which team in there right mind would pick up King? I'd guess none and i don't think there would be much interest in Ling?!?!?

I just keep hearing people say we have a one paced midfield, not including tenace, Byrnes, monica, and varcoe (who hasn't paid a game, nor has he been overly impressive in the VFL), none of them, bar monica are playing regularly nore are they good enough to lead a midfield at this point.

anyway just a thought........

Only for something that is above what he is worth! One bad year doesn't mean we go trading him for empty beer cans. Aker and second or third round pick would be a fair trade. Brisbane won't agree but they would be getting a bargain!

If Kelly's not in the hoops next year, I'd be amazed.

They will serve his ****house 06 up to him as ammo for next year. Then if he has a bad 07, someone like Sheedy will be keen to try and transform his form, and we still might get a 2nd rounder for him.

yeah i reckon its highly unlikely he won't be at cat land next year!!

Another question, if as a club we are on the cusp on winning the GF (although this year wouldn't support it) would we be better of getting a high draft pick for Kelly or a player?? Obviously a good player, but you probably wouldn't get a star, just another kid with potential.

If he plays for someone else I'd be amazed. Sure it has been a crap year for him, but the entire team except Rooke hasn't delivered with consistency.

Expect him to be kept and pushed in the pre-season to gain more in his stamina.

......

what the? King is still a top notch ruckman and ling is one of the most consistent, smartest mid fielders going around. quit bashing our own players! These are quality guys who would be snatched up in a second by other clubs!

That might have worked last year. This year it would be like Geelong trading Prismall for Heffernan.

Trade for late first rounder or keep.

I can dream :D

Whether we used Kelly or not, I'd love to see those two guys in hoops. Won't happen, but they are just what we need.

King is not a top notch ruckman anymore, not by a long shot!! If he recaptures his all australian form then ok, but otherwise he barely jumps or takes overhead marks!!

As for Ling, hes smart, but hes slow, handballs to much and appears to be less effective in this faster type of football, than in years gone by.

Still both good players but dont over state it!!!

Can you trade a player for a coach, otherwise I'd keep Kelly,

In Perth where i live, a one eyed eagles supporter sees nothing but the good of their team. It seems however that a one eyed geelong supporter sees nothing but the bad.

King and Ling are still terrific players. Kelly is a keeper. The tradables are teh likes of Gardiner, Kingsley, Playfair, Macca, and these types that can't secure a regular spot, but have shown glimpses of quality.

I'm not saying that King and Ling aren't good players, both can be brilliant, it's just that more often than no they aren't!! Particularily Kingy!

All i'm saying is that i don't think there would be that many clubs really interested in picking up either of them! Kings injury prone and ling is slow as...

Agree with you about possibly trading the other names

This is a rediculous comment

Every other club in the league would pick up Michael Gardiner in a heart beat if he didn't have an attitude problem yet people here want to get rid of King??

What has Michael Gardiner got that King hasn't?

No one that i know wants to get rid of King, i just don't think he would be worth much if he was put up for trade!!! I don't think many clubs would be prepared to part with a high pick or awesome player. Hes constantly injured!!

As for Gardiner, i think you have over estimated the demand for Gardiner, there will be some clubs interested, but the guys done his knee etc, when he plays he looks out of it, i don't think hes worth that much anymore!!

He'll probably get picked up, but hes not worth that much!!
