I am simply not getting sucked into the notion that you need a team of 185cm speedstars to win footy. It has been shown that if you man up the flood and move the ball quickly to good tall forwards you can win footy games.

We lost one game in 2000 due to flooding...and we had stellar fowards. They choked our forward 50 forcing us to kick long and wide of the square[/QUOTE]

And i will stand by my comments , if you go man on man with the extra players they flood back and make them accountable you can move it quickly into the forward line and win games.

You're assuming everytime we'd get it into our forward line, the marks will stick, let alone hit the right target

Hansen is a must, Gumbleton has struggled in the WAFL and just looks out of his depth and lokks very skinny, hansen plays TAC cup but absoloutely dominates every time he plays and just looks a class above.
hansen for me

I watched both play in the U18's and Hansen impressed me a little more.

Also saw a highlights package of him and his pack marking and 1 on 1 marking against players his own size is exceptional

Hansen sounds like the winner.

Is there a site for the new draft?
www.footydraft.com still have the 2005 listings.

Don't underestimate the size difference between playing with boys in the TAC cup and playing against men in the WAFL. The same player could dominate in one, but look skinny and be outmuscled in the other quite easily.

We should take the best player regardless of position, i don't know who that is.

Hansen is a Chad Cornes type player and i think we need a player like that so i would draft him, But ill be happy with either Gumby or Hansen. If Gibbs is free at no.2 (which he prob wont be) then draft him

Totally agreed. Plus hansen is a melbourne boy which is nice too. Although i did read the other day that something like 23/44 (from memory) of our players were non melbourne so i guess the 'going home' factor isn't really a big issue for us but perhaps with #2 draft pick it becomes slightly more important as those are the players that you really don't want going home.

So the general consensus amounst Essendon supporters is Hansen will go pick 2?

It's quite even between Hansen and Gumbleton, with maybe a few more leaning to Hansen
Probably about 55/45.

Of course we don't call out the players number !!!

I was in the Hansen corner, as we need a CHB, but after watching the under18 Videos, I'm a Gumbleton man now, he looks a rare talent to me.

True we need a CHB, but i'm a little concerned with using our #2 pick in a cracker draft on a backman... I'm not going to pretend i've seen enough of any of these kids, but whoever it is must have that "game-braker" quality

If you want a game breaker, then Gumbleton is the man
