both whitey and howat continue to impress! :thumbsu:
Whitey is improving with every game he plays and Howat continues to play good football.
IMO both deserve nominations in the last two rounds...
is there anyone else hoo could get a nomination ahead of one of them this round?

It shouldnt be on who played one good game, its got to be who has played better over more time, and IMO that would be White.
If Moran was to get it he would never win the award so therefore the nomination would be pointless, let him get one next year if he is still under age because as you said it was only his first game.

Polo got one on debut. Don't want him to hand that one back do you?

Was Moran's debut as good as Polo's? Polo's was exceptional. Don't often get BOG on debut.

No it wasn't. Infact Polo's was probably in the top 3 single performances by a Tige's player this year. But that wasn't the question. Just because Moran's match was his first, doesn't mean he should be overlooked. White and Howat both played well on the weekend, Moran's match was better.
Moran got it and rightfully so
21 disposals, 10 marks and 10 hitouts for a 2nd year ruckman in his first game is fantastic and equal to that of Polo's as the guy is 6'6" and 100kg.
I'd hoped we'd pick up Moran, but the Kangaroos took him pretty early

I wouldn't say pick 58 was early.

I know that I am sort of contradicting myself there but I am not saying that it was stupid to give Moran the nomination because I didn't want him to get it I was saying it for the Moran himself, first of all he won't be able to win the award this year or next year because once you have been nominated you can't get nominated again, and what if he would have been the best player next year, no chance of him winning $20,000 which I am pretty sure would have been nice for a young player like him.
Polo won the nomination after an outstanding match early in the year where as Morans was a good game but it was very late in the year.
I myself thought that a couple of games after Polo had got the nomination that he possibly shouldn't of got it because he wasn't very good in a few of the matches after that Essendon game, but he has now justified his nomination.
All I would ask from the AFL is to next time look at the possible long term effect of selecting someone who has played so little games and give it to someone who has played well more consistently over a certain number of weeks, especially this late in a season.

You've beaten me to it.
Moran was a roughy from deeeepppppp in the draft.
You only have to head over to our board to see very very good posters talking about how at the start of this year they were convinced that Moran was never ever getting a game for us and was a massive waste of a pick.
I don't follow it as closely as some, but i am STUNNED at how this guy has come on this year.
A very deserving Rising Star for Round 21.

Not true. He can get nominated again next year if he meets the games / age criteria. Duncan Kellaway got nominated two years running (93-94).

Born in England, raised on soccer, late convert to AFL. We are seeing more and more stories of guys 'converting' to AFL at 15-16 and if they have the athleticism clubs will draft them and develop them. Particularly true in Queensland where they are pinching quite a few from Union / League (basically anyone who is a bit lightly built but tall and quick).

No Polos was much better because we won and he kicked his third in the last qtr to give us the lead and we held on Morans was a good debut but in a game that was boring and he didnt have much effect on the game

A very deserving Rising Star for Round 21.
Considering the bloke had only played the game for 2 years, he was widely considered as a rookie selection at best. So being taken in the 3rd round was earlier than expected, but not unreasonable for a project player. In hindsight it was a very good selection.

Are you sure the rules haven't changed because if that is true and he does get nominated then he will have TWO Plasma screen TV's.
