Heard his contract talks with the club were meant to be held this week, I think he mentioned it on White Line Fever.
Anybody know when its officially happening or any ground made yet?
I hope we can retain him because he will be great for the development of the young ruckmen and could be quite useful in the forward line.
Only keep him if he wants to be at the club though.

There is no way everitt will be at the club next year! on monday's white line fever he stated hawthorn was unsportsman like for trading john hay with the problems he had and that we should have told north, it was common knowledge that hay had his problems. Everitt has knocked up saying stupid things about the club for the last couple of months i say BETTER OFF WITHOUT HIM
No he said we would have been IF we knew.
I still would be surprised if he stayed though...

We signed Taylor for another two years just recently.
I'm sure the decision was made before that signing, and I wouldn't be surprised if an announcement is made this week.
We will get a fair price for him, maybe in a three way deal.

I think it is the Tuesday after the last game and after the Monday march - I would therefore say there will be a punch on, on the Monday and Spida will be forcibly removed from the venue and never the Twain shall meet again.....
He did the same at the Saints and now with us...move on Spida we don't want you or need you.....

See this week's Tuesdays with Todd. It has a strong inference.

In the Vandenburg article it suggests spider cracked it when overlooked for captain.
I mean you need more than Tim Watson's reccomendation to appoint him.
IMO Salmon was a more deserving captain and he didn't crack it.
Spider will take his third club to the bottom of the table next year.....
I still think it is 50 / 50 the only outstanding negotiating point is the term of the contract and the club is not going to cave in.
Perhaps Spida will realise there will be a cost for him going to Sydney & he will (cave in).

If what we read in the papers is true ...
Spider recently explained he pulled of the leadership group so he could spend time with his Kids 1 day a week. Its a fair call by him and I respect his decision. Moving to Sydney would throw an even bigger spanner in the works for him in this regard. I think he mentioned a few weeks ago (when downplaying Barry Halls arselicking) that Sydney was as a place he couldnt live. I really think he doesnt want to go there. Just trying to talk up his market value.
He has made an absolute mess of his negotiations and trying to get extra leverage with the club. Its backfired and he seems to have alienated quite a few folk. I dont know ... even if they did offer, is he too proud/ stubborn to accept another Hawks contract?

i rekon if he wants to go dont let him go cheaply.striaght swap for jolly.jollymisnt as good a tap ruckman as spider but is younger and works just as hard.would nick davis fit in at hawthorn if the swans are looking to get rid of him

What would be a good trade for Spider? I think we've got enough ruckmen. Ted Richards? I wouldn't mind getting a tough defender so that we can release Croad into the forward line more often.
Spider was good prior to this season and it's a shame he's leaving. You can bet that wherever he goes, he'll take his losing curse with him.
Wonder whether he's still Sydney bound...

I hope we don't get any of those extravert types. Nick Davis isn't needed as we've got Williams. When the bigger guys - Roughead, Croad, Franklin - start to dominate the forward line, Williams role will change a bit.
As for Jolly - don't we have 3 top line ruck guys now? Talor, Campbell & Bailey. Wouldn't mind sneaking Blake from St Kilda into our side in a 3 way swap for Spida. Blake can ruck and play forward and back.

It's funny looking back ... I went to Tassie for the R21 match against the Roos, and the whole squad was in attendance - they pretty much all trained on the Friday - but the big exception to that was Spida. Did not see him either Friday or Saturday.
For me, that spoke volumes about where he would not be playing next year.

Spida has gone. Time to forget him and his wallet. Now he is just something obscure in the history of the Hawthorn Football Club's long and illustrious history which contains many of the greatest legends in the game. Of the latter he certainly is not one of them.

It seems you may have forgotten Gary that Spida has given HFC very good service over his 4 years especially at a time when the club was rabble (2003/4). Even this year there were a number of games we wouldn't have won without him - ie Ess Round 5.
Incidently at Hawthorn he won the following awards:
B&F 2004
Runner Up B&F 2005
Best Clubman 2004
The facts therefore suggest the contrary.

I agree MHDKA...B&F and AA...
He had no pre season and had a couple of injuries through out the year...
Wonder if everyone would be so tough on him if he was a B&F or AA this year...
I think we will lose him relatively cheaply...not a great deal for us...but at the same time if he can get a better deal than we are offering then he should take it...wouldn't you...
Now he is just something obscure in the history of the Hawthorn Football Club's long and illustrious history.

With Spida talking to Roos in Sydney and Longmire appearing to be one of the favorites at StKilda, Spida could easily go back to the Saints. Training would be closer to home if he buys in the Mornington area as well.

All of the sudden Spider's value might be increasing!
Teams after him:
St. Kilda-GT is gone!
Sydney- The front runner!
Collingwood- Need a ruckaman to support Fraser, and let Fraser go forward.
With three clubs being highly interested we may get more for Spider than we think. Everitt still has 2 to 3 years IMO, and will be a quality pick up, but we might get a good deal for him considering the teams that will approach him.
All teams that will be after him, have made the finals, so PSD is unlikely.
