OH well, there it is...at least we get to see Lee against them. I believe we're a big chance to end the season on a winning note..anyone agree?

id say Cartlidge will be playing for his career at Essendon(although its a small chance) this game. Try to make a good impression while the club is starting to decide who to let go. If Reynolds was dropped why wasnt Bolton because in my mind they were both just as bad last week.

I'd say it's more a case of Cartledge playing to increase his trade value rather than playing for his career at Essendon.

the backline that has been named. is that the shortest backline ever named? i suppose it goes with the dogs shortest forward line ever named.

Who will play on Grant if he plays forward? or minson?

and how many will they kick if bradley was to play on one of them at full back?

Well the way i see it there is no point keeping cartledge when we have hille, laycock and ryder who are all below 24

i would think all three of them are in line before cartledge

hence in the end cartledge is basically occupying someone else's position so it might not be that bad letting him go

Yes i agree Cave, Unortunately.
What a shame it would be to lose the priority pick if we beat the dogs.
The trade off is not worth it imo.

I always get nervous seeing the name Reynolds on the emergency list. Then you know there is always a possibility.

I think Lucy is the only one fit, not in the 25.

It's a sad state of affairs our injury list.

Bugger how Lucy has been going in BGO. I would prefer see Bolton sit this one out and Lucy given a go.

Seems we've given up on Reynolds so much that we're not even bothering to try and raise his trade value.

Great that Lee is back in, though finding a match up for him will be difficult.

**** Firman was announced at training yesterday that he would be making his debut but with 5 mins left in the session did his hammy. Feel very sorry for the kid as he may never get a chance again :( :thumbsd:

That is absolutely terrible news for the poor kid he must have been shattered. And i must admit as a supporter i absolutely love to see young players going out in their debut matches even if they don't have much of an impact. It's always great to see the future of the club being unveiled (or potential future).

On his form this year i would be shocked if he isnt on the rookie list again next year.

And if Laycock doesnt sign and is traded ?

Get rid of him anyway. We'd be better off with someone like Eames than Cartledge.

I was a bit wrap for the kid, was happy we drafted him. But he just doesn't have it (don't ask me what it is ;)).

I agree , he hasnt gone forward this year in fact i think he has perfomed worse than last season but i guess until Laycock signs he is still in the mix.

I wouldn't have thought so, because Cartledge isn't going to be good enough to be our second ruckman next season.

It just means we'll have to find one in the draft/trade period if Laycock goes. Although I think he'll stay.

If we loooked like losing Laycock wouldnt we have to seriously consider keeping Cartledge. This years draft is strong in all areas except ruckmen. Lueuenberger is a blue chipper but it quickly falls away from there. Next years draft may contain 3 ruckmen in the top ten. I would be hesitant to rely on Hille, Ryder, Bradley and possibly McKinnon as our ruckmen. eames is too slow and lacks the necessary skills. There is talk in other threads that we are seriously considering Lueuenberger with pick 2 but I hope that is not true.

Eames was just the first name that came to my head, but if Cartledge isn't good enough, why keep him just because Laycock goes.

And I'd imagine we'd be considering about 10 blokes with pick 2, no doubt Lueuenberger would be one of them.

its interesting to see birss dropped from the doggies again. does anyone know whether he's contracted next year?.. might be an interesting one to chase if he slips through the net... from what i've seen of him he's a player... any opinions?

He's injured. Not dropped.

Solid footballer, worth a look at.

yeah i reckon he's worth a crack at... i thought he had been dropped.. either way he seems to have spent a lot of time in the vfl and maybe a change of clubs would appeal to him.:thumbsu:

I am very disappointed that sheeds didn't play Lucy and Lonergan this week i mean what have we got to lose it would be a perfect chance to give them a chance at afl level and besides no matter what sheeds says he does not want to win this week or else bye bye aker, i have a feeling late change johns for lonergan sheedy is a sly dog;)

Not sure who mentioned it...but I think Ash Eames would be a great pick up. An older body thats tough and hard at it. Doesn't give an inch - not soft as butter like I think Laycock, Cartledge and Ryder are. I think we could sacrifice one of them for a bigger, stronger body while the others develop.

Eames gave alot of VFL and AFL ruckmen a touch up last year. Could do alot worse.
