The brief was to analyse trends in national and international sport as well as the AFL to identify the most appropriate structure for the Essendon football department into the future.

The following people have assumed these new roles:

John Quinn - high performance and training services manager
Adrian Dodoro - list manager
Matthew Knights - on-field development coach

Good!!! They can have him, dont want to see him anywhere near our coaching panel. Great player, but dont want Richmond to get sentimental and give past players jobs that should be given to more well-equipped candidates. We can do better than get Knighter.

I want to see coaching staff with successful backgrounds, not blokes that were happy to turn up to a club with a bar sitting in their gym. Pfff.... culture change is happening at Richmond and that means no Knighter.

His ability to coach Bendigo to 12th in a 13 team VFL really caught your eye did it? Or was it the way he managed to get the Port Magpies to miss the finals in his one season in charge there?

He might be a legend of the club but you can't just hire a guy for those reasons.

Anyway what is an "on-field development coach"? Is that what we used to call a runner?

Notice that they have finally gotten rid of Dodoro as recruiting manager. Shame from Richmond's point of view, that was working well for 15 teams :D

Why do we need him at tigerland? Just because he's an ex player? We have good people in charge.

If Knights wants to be a decent coach then he has to learn his trade at another club because he learnt nothing in his time at Richmond with our left over coaches and crap ideas.

No point getting him to the club just because he was a past Tiger player.

Knighter may never have been as great a player as Royce but he is looming as an equally great coach as Royce was.

I wonder whether it might not be better for Knights to go coach one of the junior teams like Hocking (?) did. He might be able to re-invent himself as a 'king of the kids' with an outstanding record of coaching juniors.

Every few years there'll be a club wanting to rebuild and it might be better to be the next Chris Connolley (I think) rather than the next Peter Knights or Danny Frawley.

Time will tell if he has the goods, but good luck to him.

John Quinn - high performance and training services manager
This bloke should have plenty of free time on his hands. Being the high performance manager at bomberland next year is like being the downhill skiing coach for Alice Springs.

Anyone who played for the club in the 90's, should be banned for
life at Punt Rd!!!
