Well the sqeeze will now be on for the following players...

Mark Bolton
Kepler Bradley
Tristian Cartledge
Aaron Henneman
Courtney Johns
Jason Johnson
Jason Laycock
Andrew Lee
Adam McPhee
Jay Nash
Damain Peverill
Adam Ramanauskas
Joel Reynolds
Dean Soloman

I think the four in bold speak for themselves as far as delistings go. Riloli retiring gives us 5 spots vacant and Rama possibly the sixth.
That leaves us with maybe two more spots to play with.

Nash is safe i think with the talk about him going to Japan.

Jolley may be added to the seniors list so that gives 5 spots...

Tristian Cartledge actaully looked pretty good last night... Did well around the ground at one stage that I noticed...

Bulk him up, give him a good pre-season and he can back up Hille in the ruck nicely...

I reckon that's pretty unlikely.

Im really hoping so because although he hasnt done as much as Dyson and Stanton i think he will be the best out of the 3 from that draft and thats saying something!

With Hille, Laycock and Ryder shaping up as our future ruckman, I don't see a place of CArtledge in a future Essendon team. Its unlikely but perhaps Carlton might want him with the loss of French, and the Bulldogs might be after some of our taller players like Bolton and Cartledge, so there may be the oppurtunity to nab some more 2nd to 3rd round draft picks.

Unfortunately for Essendon, the only players from that list that may attract some trade attention are Bradley, McPhee and to a lesser extent, Johnson. If the others were to be picked up, it would be through the PSD. That said, there's plenty of dead wood from the list that can be culled, ie Bolton, Cartledge, Henneman and Reynolds, and if a proper clean out is in order, I would suggest Ramanaskaus would depart prematurely, as too would Soloman, Peverill and even Johnson.

That's eight players, but it all depends on what Essendon end up with in the draft.

Johnson? Did you see his form at the end of the year when finally fit, he'll be back and be a very handy player once again.

You're right about the dead wood, looks like de-listing will finally become a tough job in 2007, hopefully.

Don't really want to see Kepler or McPhee traded unless we really come out well in the trade, as for Solly any good deal would be sufficient

One thing that's always struck me abhout a certain Rival forum (BB) is that there is a small but determined hard core of Reynolds supporters, who claim that his apparent complete lack of skill is a myth, and that he really does have some talent, he just hasn't put it to use yet. We all know he's fast as a speeding rat and can jump, and this mob reckon he'll be an important player for us some time in the future. Just to set the record straight, I haven't been to training to prove them right or wrong, but they're all pretty convinced, and most of them aren't idiots either. There doesn't seem to be anyone at all who rates Joel here. Why so?

And as for trading Solly or delisting Jolley, NEVER

I'll start off by saying I would delist Joel Reynolds, but I also have no doubt he has talent.

He just seems to lack the ability to take his game to the next level. He's one of those inbetween players unfortunately.

He did present well and have enough shots on goal to earn himself a place on the list. He would have provided another genuine option on goal. But he's been on the list long enough and had a good run injury wise in 2006 and should have shown more.

It's unfortunate that its probably his goal kicking that will in the end cost himself a place on the list, because I've seen enough of him to know he is in general a very good kick of the footy.

He seemed nervous in the AFL. When he lined up for goal it looked like he was thinking about it too much or something.

He didn't play as close to goal, last year especially, he played a lot of his footy at HB.

But it was significantly better. He almost looked to choke at AFL level, but he was pretty good in the VFL.

With Henneman and Bolton still on the list it's perfectly normal as a Bombers fan to have these feelings

Aaron wasnt a terrible players for us. He was just never settled down in one position, but he was a handy backline player. I think its sad to see a player who was so promising as a young player to be just about sent packing.

I disagree.
Although he never did settle into a position, he had poor disposal, poor goal kicking, was slow and his decision making was very ordinary.
He looked quite good in junior footy, from the little i saw of him, but offered very little in AFL.

On ya way coppa.

Not entirely true, was pretty good in 2001 i think it was, may have even been a rising star nominee. But never really progressed from there.

Hennaman wasn't a 100% committed player. He loved to party too much and thats all there was to it.

Would have to disagree about trading Solly, will ask the question how many times this season did we see him have to line up on a KPP, I will actually thank him for fighting out of his way division for the club.
