How do you reckon we'll go in the three games?
One at Colonial, one in Cairns against the reigning premiers, and one at moron park against the camrys???
I really couldn't care less as long as no serious injuries occur. Should beat StKilda but tough to beat the others on their home turf.

Well I reckon We'll beat the Saints.
Brisbane in Carins, it sounds pretty tough but the Lions are as used to playing there as we are. They had a later finish to their season too. Which means we might just catch them off guard (I give the Crows a chance this weekend for the same reason).However I haven't tipped against the premiers this week & i'm unlikely to go against them in week 2 but you never know.
Adelaide at Footy Park, another tough one but we did beat them there in this comp in 2000 en-route to the semis (Saints as well). Adelaide are a little like us I feel, capable of everything or nothing. Adelaide would have to be favoured.
This group is similar to our 2000 group except Geelong (whom we lost to anyway) are replaced by Brisbane.
I reckon our group will finish like this
Brisbane
Adelaide
Melbourne
St.Kilda
3rd & 4th get $15,000 or so, 2nd gets double that so it's worth fighting out to the end. Group winners get $60,000 I think plus the chance of more if they progress. We'd be a slim chance to win the group but I think we could definitley pinch 2nd.

Didn't I read (or hear) somewhere that how well we go in the pre-season is usually an indicator of how well we go during the Home-And-Away Season? For that reason, I hope we go really well during the Wizard Cup (still don't like the name, though).

From memory, Essendon were thumped by Port in the 1st round last year and came back to make the GF, so theres still hope...:o

Well I thought we would win against St. Kilda but yeah well.... grrrr :mad:
Anyways Brissy will be a challange but if we get our arses into gear and the players don't just fall asleep on the field than we have half a chance.
Not sure about Adelaide yet, gotta wait and see how we pull up against Brissy.
Dees01 I too really only care about injuries and well the news is not good. Febes out for 3-4 weeks (probably 6 considering his age and the clubs accuracy on things like that :rolleyes: ) and Whelan did something to his elbow which is not too serious apperantly BUT I would just like to say this...... WHY DOES WHELAN ALWAYS GET INJURED?? whats with that? I just want him to have one injury free season! :(

aaahh, i'm gonna freak!! they reckon that biz (who had a shocker of a game) played well!!! whats with this?!?!
The only positives for Melbourne were the improved form of Travis Johnstone while Clint Bizzell battled hard in his first game for the Demons in a new defensive role but even his efforts were not enough to prevent Melbourne from eventually being steam-rolled. ..... i'll agree with the jono bit - coz he did play really well - bit biz?!?! wtf?!

Well when I got home I watched the end of the game on TV than they had an injury update from the rooms.
Febeys pulled something in his shoulder and he is out for 3-4 weeks (could be longer coz he is 32 after all).... morons those who decided he should play! :mad:
And Wheels did something to his elbow but apperantly it wasn't serious coz he did play most of the game and the dude in the rooms said they strapped it and it should be ok (they'll probably rest him next week though).
Biz was ok in the second half, he was better than the other 2 in Lamb and Ellis. You gotta remember that he played on Hamill the whole game and that he hasn't played in defence for a very long time. But thank you, Sam Newman, for reminding me at half time of our match that it was only Rd 1 of the Pre-Season and there wasn't anything to get too worked-up about. Hasn't changed the fact that I only just got over our loss, though.

Awww poor madboy.... you should really get over it, I actually went and not only did they lose, Robbo played like crap, Brucey missed from 15m out and Clarky didn't even play... despite that I'm already over it! :p
