Collingwood Vs The Western Bulldogs
Who the f*** are the Western Bulldogs? A Club that was forced to change their name to attract more supporters… What kind of a Club does that, a club with no history and very little tradition?
Who are the Western Bulldogs Rivals? Does anyone know or care! I don’t and I doubt anyone does including their own so-called supporters. These people look back on that fateful merger attempt with Fitzroy with rose-colored glasses. But Fitzroy was taken away to Brisbane and look at how successful they have been, all be it with a lot of officially sanctioned cheating. The Doggies got a windfall from the State and Federal Governments so they can upgrade the Whitten Oval, speaking of Teddy. Apart from Ted has this Club had any other player that approaches the greats of the AFL, sure there is Doug, or Chris Grant. But they will be forgotten in a few years time, what a Club hey. This Western Suburbs pretender from the VFA is so forgettable, only just above St Blunda. At least St Blunda can draw a bit of emotion from Collingwood supporters, what do we feel about the Footscray Western Bulldogs, Pity?
Well no pity today boys.
You go out on that MCG turf and you play your arse off, one of the greatest Collingwood supporters has joined the likes of Pants, Bobby Rose, Jack Hamilton and so many others watching and cheering from the greatest corporate box in the sky. They will probably even invite the top fella for a view of his very own Football Club. Yes Gods Own Football Club, that’s how great Collingwood is.
This is just the first step this year; the past 22 games mean sweet frog all is we stuff it up today. Notice I said we, that’s because at Collingwood we are all part of the Club. From those lost in another country signing into Nicks scoreboard and chat, to the elder persons who have attended week in week out for 50+ years to see 2 Premiership wins from watching us play Finals every other year. Next week we will have the Eagles in Perth, that’s OK we have our Western Magpies supporters group who will stand up and be counted as they carry our thoughts with them to the game. That’s when the WE of Collingwood will start to show out, Collingwood is strong everywhere we play.
