if we hadn't defeated collingwood earlier in the year, the pies would have grabbed a top four spot, and, as of tonight, still been alive in the finals...

i think it's grand that we played a small part in ensuring the early exit of the pies in 2006!

it feels great knowing that essendon helped ruin the magpies season

Don't forget the emergenceof Jobe Watson, but nothing beets seeing the magpes lose.

Arron Henneman didn't play a single game and will get delisted. Thats my positive from 2006.

if we had've lost that game a benefit would be that we'd get to watch collingwood lose a second final and exit in straight sets.
now that would've been funny.

but I'm glad we won all the same...

have been thinking that since we beat em. You could see it coming back to bite em. Now Holland should be out for 6 and McGuire is arguing with his own. How sweet it is.:D

And one other (minor) positive, is the rapid change from our midfield being slow, "untalented", and basically our achilles to being our great strength. Sheedy's done it again :thumbsu:

good call, whilst there is still a lot of room for imrovement the midfield was very under-rated this year and if the forward line can stay healthy it looks to be quite dangerous next year also

I still think there's room for a genuine classy outside midfielder/winger. I'm hoping Ricky does it. All the other components for a really good, balanced mix are there - Watson the extractor, Stants and JJ the bread-and-butter, McVeigh/Hird/MJ/Campo/Monfries wandering in and out. And a forward line of Lloyd, Hird and Johns looks... well... I'm drooling. Future looks bright.
