It is always a much tougher decision when the captain isn't performing well enough to justify his place in the team and unfortunately, Steve hadn't made the runs, his bowling wasn't what it once was and he was really struggling in the field.
I dont have a problem with the decision, although it is unfortunate, like Mark Taylor's was, but such is life.

Why does everyone keep saying he hasn't justified his place in the side. If you look at the top orders one day averages, every batsman apart from Bevans dropped below their career average by 8 - 10 runs, excert one: S Waugh. His career avg is 32.something, his avg for this years one-dayers was 31.16. Not a huge drop off. There are others that should be dropped before him.

I am absolutley staggered by this decision. What a monumental mistake. Steven Waugh is in the top 10 one day cricketers in the world. He is the best captain in the world.
Hohns and his cronies should be sacked - hang your heads in shame! :mad:

Waugh is a top player still.
Even though he may not be performing brilliantly he is still a top class player, Mark Waugh struggled very much throughout the series, was he dropped?
