Hi all,

My name is Katrina Bills. I am one of the three candidates standing for the Brisbane Lions board this year. The other two candidates are Tony Kelly and Angus Johnson who are current board members.

It seems everyone is trying to find me to ask questions, so since this seems to be a pretty popular gathering place for lions fans - so, I thought I'd drop by and see if anyone had anything to ask? (I've also posted on this on the Brisbane board)

For those who don't know me, I've been a Brisbane Lions supporter since 1992 (when I went to my first AFL game at Carrara) and became a full member in 1996. I am also in the cheersquad (joined 1998) which I love. I try to get to as many reserve games and lions functions as I can, although often not as many as I would like.

I am self-employed, working as a consulant providing all kinds of advice and assistance to businesses, technically I'm called a Business Analyst (most of the time anyway!) I also have a couple of uni degree's - Arts, IT & Technology Management and have two years to go on my law degree. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I do have the experience and qualifications to be able to contribute to the board.

Yes, I am female and yes I do LOVE my footy. So, enough about me... what do you want to know?

If you are shy and don't want to post it here then send me an email katrina@taltingan.com.au

I think that the lions should play:

8 games in Victoria
11 games in Brisbane
1 game in Sydney
1 game in WA
1 game in SA

What do you think?

Spot on. If the Blions hope to get more Roys involved with the club, the current 6 games in Melbourne is not going to help in any way. Old Swannies probably feel the same way!

Draft (Draught) Mullavery sounds like a good name for a beer, Mobben'

There'd be a bit of ambiguity betwixt vices if your shortened the term, though, Levo.

8 games in melbourne - interesting....

I'm guessing you are thinking that the other adelaide and perth game should be played in melbourne rather than brisbane?

Or we should switch a couple of other "home" games to melbourne?

Wonder what the difference in revenue for the club would be?

How about chipping in some money, and if all is well with the local council, turning the Brunswick St. Oval into a permanent training base for the Lions for when they play in Victoria?

Surely it would only require a small amount of capital, to say, bring the change rooms up to requirements, as well as any work that needed to be done to the ground itself etc. Considering the place is already well maintained, I doubt the costs would be extensive.

Perhaps the club could also look at assigning some sort of memorabilia housing at the ground. If the Lions, along with Fitzroy, the past-players association, and the historical societies, etc., all put their heads and dollars together, I'm quite sure something special could be arranged.
