Does anyone here have any idea exactly how each team prepares for draft day? Obviously the process is a long one involving numerous scouts, meetings between the coaching staff, list development etc, but on the actual day, how do the clubs go in? Do they have a shopping list, pick 1-100 of the players they want in order, or do they go in with numerous lists of midfielders, kpps, defenders, forwards etc? How often are decisions made on the day?

If anyone has a good article they could point me to, that'd be great.

Each Club in the weeks leading to draft day following camp, allies vs vics and nationals, would have prepared and redone at least 5 mock drafts, with a settled final list which they beleive, in order, which kids would go in what pick.

Each club would have at least 2-3 players allocated to each pick, and would definately have a strategic plan with their picks, depending on their overall strategy on draft day. E.g: CLub has allocated second round pick to securing a KPP defender, so has reserved 2-3 players who may/ will be available at the time. This is most evident at first round selections. Sometimes clubs throw in surprises/ let players slip etc, and thats why clubs usally go bang bang bang with their selections, as they know who will be available and always have back ups in mind should their kid get snapped up.

usually when you see clubs debating between themselves for long periods, it means the kid they have wanted is unavailable, and all their back ups may have dissappeared aswell.
OR they could have received a bargain early on in the drfat which may throw around their strategy so instead of quick mids pick 1 and 2, they got a KPP who slipped from top 15 to 25, so they allocated their third round to best available midfielder. Catch my drift?

It all really depends on the strategy/ wishlist of the club going into draft day. However, each club would have a basic structure/ process they go through on a regular basis each draft day.

Wouldnt you love to be at a table to see what is said and what their strategy is, facinating stuff.
