View Full Version : Lowest talent team to make a finals series
For me it's a tossup between the current Collingwood side and Essendon 2004. :)

Essendon was far from impressive in 04....until they beat us *cries*
Melbourne 05 had the list that warrented a 6-8 spot I reckon. This years list warrents anywhere from 3 to 8 so we did alright getting 7th and a win first up.

Why is Collingwood 2002 and 2003 there? I swear both those teams got into the Grand Final those years.

You are probably right. Both sides made the finals on the back of incredibly soft draws.

if you are basing this on teams with soft draws then without doubt it would be Sydney 2006 considering they are reigning premiers they had the easiest draw you could imagine

Love is in the air....
Port last year would be my vote. To lose a Showdown Final by a record margin, that is just disgraceful.

Debatable.
I think Port last year were incredibly lucky to be there. 11 1/2 wins shouldnt get you into the finals series.

And they still flogged the roos by 80 points. lol @ kangaroos

Another dumbass poll from a sad little Blues supporter. http://www.iconator.com/ikons/784/ICONATOR_8a9702a209e2fbc448af2ebc55dbe621.gif

Not on talent. On mental toughness and fitness/ability to run out the season yes but talent wise we had a good list. Not much has changed. We were in awsome form for the first half off the season.
Best answer is Carlton: Wiz Cup
Unbelieveable even in a second rate insignificant competition.

Without doubt, it's gotta be Essendon in 2004. They played something like a dozen opponents that were in the bottom 4 at the time. Unbelievable!
Pretty obvious what the intent of the poll is - run down the Pies again. Putting the 2002 and 2003 Collingwood sides in there is an indication of what a sad little person you are. FWIW this year's pies side is not flash, but certainly better than the Roos last year and a few others.

I could have sworn that too, and the fact that we almost knocked off the best side arguably to ever play the game in the '02 GF :)
Geelong in 2000 finished 5th after home and away and were begining to re-build. They would have to be up there.

its gotta be the kangaroos in 2005...how that team is not included in this poll is fairly ridiculous.

Diff is between the Roos of 05 and Pies of 06 is that the Roos have an unbelieveably rare talent in Daniel Wells (although he has yet to delieve on that potential) wheras as the Pies, umm, ahhh ... soft draw, no injuries, tribunal leninent on them (except for Brodie Holland), feral culture ...
Kangaroos last year. Collingwood from that list (06).

I thought this poll was about "talent", not who beat who.
Otherwise how did Essendon win their first final based on your logic?
