Where do you think he will be drafted? He was South Australia’s captain in the U/18 Championships and did quite well. I’ve seen him 3 times this season for Sturt and every time I haven’t been too impressed. His disposal is extremely average; two weeks back I saw him and his first 3 or 4 kicks were all awful and gave the forwards no chance. However he’s a huge ball winner and can rack up possessions with ease.
Thoughts?

I still have him in my 15-30 bracket. Wouldn't be overly surprised to see him slide, but I've only seem him twice outside of championships so probably not the best judge

Based on Drumm's report in regard to his kicking skills, perhaps we could have another BIG slider (aka Swallow last year)?

Maybe, would have to ask someone who watches more SANFL.
Disposal at champs was alright without being sensational

I actually attend the SANFL each and every week...
It's just that I support Norwood, not Sturt. I've only see Sturt when they've played Norwood, or been on TV.

When I think about it, Hurley was overlooked for the 2005 draft as well wasn't he?
Think back to 2004. Swallow was touted as a Top 30 pick (on Footydraft I believe). He was, despite his credentials (WA captain), not picked in the draft at all. Come 2005, his star had risen as high as Top 10, with some even suggesting Top 5. Where did he get drafted in the end? 50? While there's a very good chance that he could turn into a great player for the Roos, it's just a funny instance of BigFooty (and even Matt Burgan), grossly over-valueing a players value).
Hurley could be the same for mine. If he was the one I am thinking of (overlooked for 05 draft), I think that, like Swallow, his kicking skills could then be the reason why recruiters overlook him.
Again, he could get drafted and turn out to be a terrific player! Who knows!

Hurley has had a few average SANFL games of late but earlier in the year to mid season he has some blinders and could easily poll one or two 3 vote games for the Magrey medal. racked up 32 touches twice, kicked goals in those games as well. Obvious and main concern is his kicking, it is NOT that flash. Not so much about picking the wrong option, just matter of his execution which results in the kick being poorly directed. If he can tidy that up to an AFL acceptable level, he will turn out to be a very good player.
Very good in traffic - cool, calm and level headed, maturity beyond his years and shows glimpses of Scott West at times.
Will be a solid player I reckon once he can tidy disposal up, and that CAN be done, other things like natural footy smarts, running to right areas are harder to teach he has those. 2nd round I would think for the draft.
Don't think he will be drafted. He is not overly quick or big. He doesn't really threaten to be a small forward who snares goals. His disposal is very ordinary. Plenty of the touches he gets are in and around the pack but not necessarily winning the ball.
Swallow was much different. He has burst pace and the ability to take the ball off packs and kick goals. Swallow might have fallen down the draft but he didn't lose his status as the 2nd or 3rd best inside midfielder. Just clubs didn't shop for his player type.
Crows should take him with their third rounder. About pick 48 or something.

I agree with Weaver also.
Heard from an excellent source that Tom's best chance will be to Rookie Listed.
In the games I have seen him live, he has impressed me but does not own the desirables that AFL scouts covet.

tend to agree with Weaver too, actually this might e a tad controversial here, but i almost have Ryan Anderson above him as far as that small rover type goes....just don't seem to get drafted in the modern day unless they are something special...IMO Anderson's disposal is a bit better and he looks a bit classier...

Have no idea on Hurley.
One minute i see an accumulater of possesions {scotty west-skinny haselby}.
Then i see him turn the footy over multiple times and then realise that he has next to no hurt factor at all on the opposition. Is very top aged as well.
Still have to repect someone that has massed 30+ possies at SANFL level as an 18 year old. Some clubs wont even look at him, but a couple of clubs will specualte with a 3rd rounder imo.
