Upgraded this year now just sitting back enjoying the ride cos I know that whatever happens if we make the GF I will be there.

Other years would be the stress of OMG what happens if they make it, how much can I afford to pay someone for tickets, who has tickets for sale etc. This year I am just enjoying the finals

Depends on how many tickets we are allocated. Could end up with a bit over 5000 left, and also if a few Gold members don't go for the tickets then there could be a few more.

It should be just as stressful for everyone right now, because we'll all got as much chance of going to the Grand Final as one another.
Does the allocation for those of us leftovers increase if we play a team with a lower membership? I thought the clubs get a certain percentage of tickets based on the amount of members they have. All the teams that we could meet in the GF have comparatively low memberships to someone like us or West Coast.

I'm not a Gold Member, but I'm thinking about it for future years. Just one problem. My wedding anniversary is close to the date of the GF (we were married the Saturday after the GF) and we go away for the weekend closest to the day. Going to the GF in a year when the "weekend away" coincides with the GF is not an option :D so I figure that 3 or 4 years out of 7 ..... :D

ouch!

this year, we have friends getting married in Avignon on Grand Final day. Yes, apparently I do have to be there :D

I am now trying to speak with the AFL to see if they know anywhere the french will be showing the game! always have to watch it anyway, but cannot miss at least watching on telly if we get there.

I figure somewhere between Avignon, Lyon or Paris there must be an aussie bar or something. somewhere.

Wife is less impressed that I am prepared to scoot off on a train on the friday night to whereever, get up early up, watch GF, train back to Avignon. the phrase... "if you're not ****** back in time..."

but hey, as a south adelaide supporter I am all too well aware how rare potential GF berths are!!

You have to do the only right and proper thing arrowman.

Besides, the missus will enjoy the weekend away by herself. :thumbsu: :D

you better not say that aloud & within your better halfs hearing macca, otherwise you won't be posting here again!

But then again within my family we have been known to make sure that a National comp is rearranged so that it doesn't impede on footy ;)

Yeah but the problem is, I'm actually quite fond of her. :p

Anyway - what will happen is, if and when I take out Gold Membership we will have an understanding that there's no point in doing so unless the GF is accessible to me, whichever year it happens :D

(Being a spreadsheet nerd, I have produced a 25-year planner that shows yellow GF Saturdays, green wedding anniversary Saturdays and RED clash Saturdays, which happen about 3 years in 7 :) Wife thinks I have too much time on my hands. :p

The thing I am concerned about was marrying her on GF weekend in the 1st place? Was this in the Shaw years? :D

The thing I am concerned about was marrying her on GF weekend in the 1st place? Was this in the Shaw years?I resent the implication that I would be foolish enough to marry on GF Day, Shaw years or not! :p No, it was the week after the GF (in 2004) - scheduling was of course subject to there not being a draw in the GF :D although of course given the participants that year I didn't really give a stuff. ;)

But I didn't think through the Anniversary Weekend Away implications :o

Seriously though, even though she has no interest in footy she fully understands and even though this year is a stuff up I know that in future years if I have the chance to watch the Crows in a GF she will not stand in the way :D I think :o
