Warney should just shut up and bowl.....

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 AAP - Australian captain Ricky Ponting and coach John Buchanan have left urgent phone messages for Shane Warne seeking explanation of his reported criticism of Buchanan.
"John Buchanan sometimes over-complicates issues and he has lacked common sense," Warne was quoted as saying in London's The Sun newspaper.
"He has been our coach during a successful era but that begs a question does the coach make the team or does the team make the coach?
"I'm a big believer that the coach is something you travel in to get to and from the game!"
Ponting said he and Buchanan, on duty with the Australian limited overs squad in Malaysia, were eagerly awaiting Warne's call from England.
"I've tried to make contact with Shane this morning, with the time difference the way it is it's fairly early on the morning in England," he said.
"Both John and myself have left voice messages on his phone to have a chat with him and work out if he actually did say some of the things that were mentioned in that article.
"One thing I do know is last time I spoke to Shane he was all about team solidarity and was looking forward to the team being a very solid group."

Yes I agree. I flicked through his book in store last week and he does tee off re. a few people most notably Buchanan and of course like his mate KP has a go at muppet. :D He should keep his thoughts on the coach to himself especially as his views might influence impressionable younger players.

Was amazed to hear him say on the news tonight that cricket has ruined his personal life. Surely it's his own behaviour which is the largest factor there.

While there is no question that Buck came in to coach the most talented team in the world, he also brought success to Queensland, where Shield victories simply had not happened before. His techniques work, no quesation- would Australia have dine as well since he took over with someone else coaching? Very possibly. But it is also possible they would have lost some matches that they won, because of different tactics used by the coach.

Warne is OK with his comments, but really doesn't need to be saying that two months before the Ashes start.

Buchanan comments out of context: Warne

Shane Warne sought to mend his relationship with John Buchanan and backpedalled furiously from reports that he had accused the Australian cricket coach of lacking commonsense.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting and Buchanan had left urgent phone messages for Warne seeking explanation of his reported criticisms of Buchanan, which appeared in London's The Sun newspaper and were also recorded by the British Press Association.
"John Buchanan sometimes over-complicates issues and he has lacked common sense," Warne was quoted as saying in the Sun.
"He has been our coach during a successful era but that begs a question does the coach make the team or does the team make the coach?"
[IMGPA report carried similar quotes from Warne, saying: "John and I get along okay but I disagree with certain things he does.
"I think that his methods over-complicate issues and at some stages he has lacked commonsense."
Warne telephoned from England and spoke to Buchanan at the team hotel in Malaysia on Friday night saying he was "extremely surprised" to have been quoted that way.
"Shane believes he was quoted out of context, he said he was very positive about the boot camp and remained very committed to the idea of team solidarity," a Cricket Australia spokesman said.
"He had a good chat to John and there are no problems between them."
The spokesman said Ponting was taking part in a recovery session at the time Warne had tried to call, and it was likely that the pair would speak later.
Earlier, Ponting said Warne had made no secret of some of his views on coaching in the past, but that last time they had spoken he was keen to ensure the team was in harmony ahead of November's Ashes series.
"One thing I do know is last time I spoke to Shane he was all about team solidarity and was looking forward to the team being a very solid group going forward," Ponting said.
"Shane's had his own views on that sort of stuff for quite a while, I guess it's probably not ideal that it's out there, but that's why it's important we get to the bottom of it today and see if he actually has come out and said those things."
Last month Warne called for Australia's next coach to be a more experienced ex-player, in place of Buchanan who had a modest record at state level for Queensland.
This week in England Warne launched a book on his life.

Remember one golden rule for high profile sportsmen: Nothing is ever their fault and it's always someone/thing elses' fault

He's a dead set idiot if he said all this.

"Modern cricketers don't need coaches"?

Perhaps the truly extroverted aspect of his personality will come out in his twilight years ...

Warney is a legend, but also a stupid one at times like this.

He is not bigger than the team or the game.
