No, they wouldn't..
how are people so ignorant?
Can't anyone rememebr what happened with Nick Stevens? Port said yay, however needed didak + first rounder, Colingwood said nay, port said go figure, carlton picked up an UN CONTRACTED PLAYER IN THE PSD WITH THEIR FIRST PICK FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....
If goddard so desires, he can say to st kilda, i want to be traded, or if he's un contracted can walk from the club, while they figure an urgent trade so they DO get something for him. Carlton has the upper hand if Goddard agree's to all this. If goddard walks (that's if he's uncontracted, does anyone know), Carlton can say to st kilda-
:Shove your deal up your backside, and can get Goddard with their first pick in the PSD...
So really, Carlton wouldn't have to give didly squat to get goddard...

I cant see it happening due to the fact it sounds too good to be true. Id be jumping for joy if he came to carlton.
The only problem i can see is the fact that this was his best year where he finally found some consistency. Not sure if he'll throw away a now solidified spot in a team thats playing finals.

In answer to the original question, probably not. Not many players would want to go there if they had any other choice.

A couple of guys on the Carlton board reckon the deal has already been done. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

How many times have you heard that?
I'm still waiting on bets to be paid from the last round of Goddard to Carlton threads.

Heard it a few times JD, and one of the guys that reckons it's done is your old mate SurreyBlue. Like I said, i'd be wrapped if it happened, but can't see it happening myself.

HBF a couple of guys on various Carlton Boards reckon LOTS OF THINGS. Most of it is fanciful, regurgitated gossip.

Never said I took their word as gospel Sezzac, just reporting what I have heard. FWIW, I don't think he'll leave the Saints.

That was just a caller taking the ****.
He claimed that Goddard wanted to go to Carlton because they were more likely to play finals than St. Kilda.

This is why I think we should only have one draft.
If carlton wanted to play this card it would then have to give up the best kid in the land. It would then at least encourage them to try and work a trade which wouldn't leave the club like the saints empty handed.

Not at all, the club was put in a no win situation of losing stevens for nothing or giving collingwood a greater chance to win a premiership. they chose the right option.
