View Full Version : Brett Lee on this pitch tomorrow
Someone's going to get seriously hurt.
Some of the deliveries by medium pacers yesterday were bouncing an extra foot or two than they normally would, and some were almost bouncing twice.
It's not the one they used in the India - W.I match but it will play almost the same by all reports.
I wouldn't want to be one of the Indian top-order batsmen.

They are using a different one because the one the other night had a depression in it which they showed close up which caused balls to either fly or shoot. It probably won't be as two-paced and dangerous as the one for the Windies/India match.
They're using it for the next two games possibly more.

Brett Lee has to actually get it near the batsmen to worry thm, which wont happen, so they should be fine.
Tendulkar will smash Lee to all corners of the ground. :)

550 odd wickets in 180 odd outings for his country.May not have gotten the ball near the batsmen but one would assume he seems to have gotten it near the stumps often enough.Ever heard of Dominic Cork, Mark Ealham or Gladstone Small? They could barely keep it on the PITCH!!!.Try again Lime. :)

Heard that before. But then, its being played in Asia so I assume the boundaries will be a lot shorter to compensate. :)

Inflated by 100 wickets.

Sorry, but how did Sachin go against Brett in the Sydney Test?
That wasn't in Asia? :) ;)

Or McGrath? Or even Australia in general? Care to elaborate some recent results?
Funny thing is, how did he and India go against Australia last time? And that WAS in India.Along of course, with the complete embarassment in the world cup that caused some Indian loser to commit suicide.Gee, is losing to us that bad? :) ;)

Err, how do you do that exactly?

Leading run-scorer in the World Cup? Gee, if you call that an 'embarassment' then you really are stupid?
Funnily enough, he played 3 tests I believe against Australia in that series and scored the match-winning 93 on the turning wicket in the second innings to win the last test for us in Mumbai. :)

Thats a nice deflection away from the result.Did you forget the question? Ok, I'll remind you "Performance against McGrath or Australia in general.PLEASE elaborate some RECENT results?

Hmmmm yes. From memory it was the pitch that virtually had not an ounce of grass. In fact, the Indian curator said at the time "I do what I told"....."Why should we help opposition"? But was quite an enjoyable series nonetheless. ;) :)

Haha, nice deflection from your insipid comment. "Embarrasing performance in the World Cup"? Please, do try explaining that.

Besides the fact that this thread is about BRETT LEE
Sure,
He averaged 17.5 in 2005/2006 from 2 matches only against Australia (while widely aknowledged to be suffering from tennis elbow at the time - thus why he only played 2 matches)
But let's look at his stats in the year before, when he wasn't injured. Averaging 76.6 in 4 matches against the Aussies IN Australia?

If we're going to bring up that, why does Australia opt to play matches at the WACCA when it's widely aknowledged that the pitch is 90% grass and bounces like on concrete. Is the groundsmen there being told what to do as well? :)

See thats your main problem, the thread is nothing about any of that, and neither was philhawks' statement. You just change the topic to try and strengthen your case, STICK TO THE TOPIC

54 Tests, 211 wickets
135 ODI's, 237 wickets
448 wickets from 189 outings for his country. But hey, what's 102 wickets ...

You forgot his 1 20/20 wicket :p Still a mile off though.

Can I ask you something legitimately? Are you stupid? When did I say Tendulkars performance in the world cup was "embarassing"? I never made mention oft his performace being emabarassing. What I did say, is that his and their performance against Australia recently, including the WC was embarassing. Are you going to deny that?

Is the groundsmen there being told what to do as well? :)Which groundsmen? There have been about 4 over the past 50 years and the pitch has never changed.Just like the SCG pitch never changes or the MCG.But to openly admit that pitches are docked to hinder the opposition, wrt their fast bowlers is fxxxxd. Its why it was so much sweeter to win that series.
You forgot his 1 20/20 wicket :p Still a mile off though.

You may have noticed I used the word odd."Odd".Meaning I wasn't quoting stats.I would'ver thought those stas were rather impressive from someone who couldn't bowl "all that well".I'm pretty certain he'd be a walk up start in India. :)

Have Indian pitches ever changed from being slow turners which accomodate the spin bowlers?

I've been through all the media articles from Cricinfo and I think you're speaking out of your arse. Tell me where exactly the curator said that he 'did what he was told'. If it was the case that the Indian pitches were 'rigged' that series, why the heck was the Nagpur wicket a green top?
Not until 12;)
Thats nice
Toodaloo. ;) :)
Have Indian pitches ever changed from being slow turners which accomodate the spin bowlers?
No.But admitting that they're deliberately docked to obstruct the opposition is pretty fxxxxxg lame.
I've been through all the media articles from CricinfoHahahaha you've what? Have you really really worked a head of steam up over this? Um, why did you do all that? Tell me where exactly the curator said that he 'did what he was told'. If it was the case that the Indian pitches were 'rigged' that series, why the heck was the Nagpur wicket a green top?
There is no link, it was on radio.Plus it was also mentioned that the "rumour" was the pitches were docked so the tests would last 5 days.Either way, who gives a rats, on both occasions of our arguments, we won.Thats all that really matters. Now, its friday night, go get a root. ;)

LOL, avoiding the Tendulkar quote altogether now are we?
I looked through the Cricinfo articles in regards to the series - takes around 2 minutes to find them - you should try it before spouting unsubstantiated crap.
Oh dear. Radio? The curator can't even speak english i'd bet yet you somehow manage to translate what he said? :D

Err no.I didnt read any Tendulkar quote. Can you elaborate?

Hahahahaha I'm sure you did.But why? Do you not know the results of what I'm talking about? I can quote herald sun reports if you like.

Apparently a lot of West Asians can't.That is, unless it suits them ort their dole payment may be in doubt.I'm sorry, but if you want a direct link ask Tim Watson. He was the one who quoted it. Dial 9429 1116.
Whats happening about that root?

Oh dear, you surely can't be that stupid. I'm obviously referring to your comment re: Tendulkar at the World Cup, which you conveniently decided not to talk about in your last post.

Sorry, there's a difference in actually finding the facts and figures about what you're saying, no 'odd 550 wickets' crap.

For starters, India is in South Asia champ. Funny you'd bring up dole payments being a North fan as well. Generalise much? :)
And yes, i'm really going to call Tim Watson. Great idea champ.
What root? Why are you on an online forum on a Friday arvo? Based on your attempted condescending tone elsewhere on BigFooty, i'm assuming you're out of High School.
Not that I need to justify myself, but my gf and myself do need to study for the HSC which is in 4 odd weeks, because you see, it kind of is slightly important.

Apart from the ridge, the pitches have been very good
I expect tomorrow's pitch to be perfectly fine. There won't be anymore mishaps like yesterday's

Ouch.Someones pretty peed off.Did I upset you Phil? Please accept my apologies. In anycase, oddly enough the results haven't changed in the 30 or so minutes that I've been typing with you, Australia, that country you call home :) , is still the dual world cup holder, and the recent bend over champions in regards to anything known as India. But good luck in those exams.
PS " You won't learn much on BF.Better off studying the texts lil' man. :)

And now you attempt to belitte others by pretending that they're offended? :D
I really do admire your attempts to be funny Mark. You're trying hard, so i'll give you a 3 for effort. :thumbsu:
The funny thing in regards to all this, if that you've taken a comment about Tendulkar and Brett Lee into a debate about Glenn Mcgrath, the Australian Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team.
Tell me, where's the relevance or did you just feel this was a thread worth spouting your unsubstantiated nonsense? Not only have you failed to produce any sort of reasonable arguement in this thread (your 550 'odd' wickets was a highlight ;)), but you've somehow managed to incorporate a patronizing tone into what you're trying to say.
Anyhow, shouldn't you be practising your 'music' or something rather than 'typing for 30 minutes' on BigFooty? :) :thumbsu:
If this mornings Sky News report is remotely accurate, Lee, Hussey, Cullen and Symonds (I think, can't remember the last name mentioned) are sitting out today.
