Was just thinking this morning what would be the outcome of putting Birdman on Judd hypothetically if WC make it. Goodes ran with Judd the other night and I wouldn't really say Goodes and Judd are verysimilar players. Makes me wonder with Burton's athletic ability and fitness this might be a very interesting match up, or am I on crack?

Thoughts?

No. Burton is so much underdone that Judd will run rings around Burton. Burton is a wingman not an onballer. If the BIrman does come in, I'd like him to be on the HFF.

Burton does not have the football brain to go with Judd. Did you watch the qualifying final when the Swans made Goodes run with Judd. Lets just say Goodes is a ****load better then the birdman but still got tore a new ******** trying to tag Judd while getting his own ball.

I don't think that it is fair to say that Burton doesn't have a football brain. He just isn't suited to a tagging role. He does a great job of getting back in defence, filling a hole, and taking some team saving marks. He then goes flat out to the other end to provide an option.

In short, he's a player who gets tagged, not a tagger. Unlike Goodes, he's also not an on baller. His best work is done running into space, and while he takes a great contested mark for his height his best work isn't in traffic (ie. stoppages).

So no. We have much better tagging options who do their best work in close at stoppages.

PS. GoCrows stay off the crack!!!:D

lol if Goodes can't take the Juddernaut on then no-one can :)

Burtons a fantastic player...but Judd...no one in the league can compare themselves with Judd who is playing by himself in a league above the AFL.

My thoughts are to leave the crack alone and find a proper crack. ;) :D

Burton hasn't got a defensive bone in his body.

This is not a good idea......:thumbsd:

I have always said I love seeing Burton in the forward lines.... he always presents well and every now and then does something brilliant. He is not fast enough, nor defensive enough to run with a Judd. Don't waste him trying to trail the opposition down... use him to OUR advantage.

Burton was manned upon Goodes in a game a couple of years back and never got near him all game. Goodes was easily BOG.

A minimal requirement for a tagger would be to at least know the name and number of your opponent. I doubt our Avian one would ever meet even this basic standard. He is good at getting back and mopping up the loose ball but that's as far as he goes defensively.

Personally if we meet the Eagles ,rotating Mattner, shirley and doughty on him and them under instructions to be there physical selves might take it out of Judd for our inevitable last quarter surge.

I think that's a good idea. Let's face it we don't have anyone to go with him all day so stand goal side and knock him around a bit (legally of course) and see how he stands up to it.

If Burton comes back into the side, he should be used as an attacking weapon, not trying to negate the opposition's best on baller. That is a job for Shirley et al.

Common sense. Use his assets to our advantage, not squander them on trying to negate theirs. :thumbsu:
