not just because north started playing poorly and we had no carey. i just reakon thats when more teams started going sideways and backwards and men behind the ball and possesion styles of play.

the 80's were rough and tough fantastic watching but the 90's were the peak of tactics and skill, today there seems to be a lot of poorly skilled players and poor football brains

your telling me north are the only team to play this way? have you not seen any hawthorn, sydney, adelaide, richmond games? besides bulldogs, wc, collingwood i reakon everyone does it as their number 1 tactic

The 80's were great, tough and hard footy was the go back then. The rules today have made it a lot less physical.:(

Nothing better than going to the G on a friday night to watch good old North Melbourne. also nice to see the teams wearing jumpers that are their own and not ones forced upon them by the afl and the umpires in their traditional white unifrom. You could also still see a game at suburbuan grounds eg optus oval, victoria park. You had pack marks, great contests and no kicking backwards. Also the torpedo would get a gig too!
