"The doctor said I had more chance of winning cross-lotto than getting what I did, and I didn't win cross-lotto either so it has been a bad couple of weeks."

at least he still has his sense of humour...

says he's "highly unlikely" to play in prelim but hasn't ruled himself out.

"The coach will back me in to make the right call, he knows that I won't give him any false information. And anyhow, I am smart enough to know that there is a lot riding on the game and I'm not going to put myself in front of the footy club."

Can't wait for Saturday. The prospect of Burton & Macca on field for the opening bounce will be golden.

Only a fool would believe that Roo won't play. He's been training in the Siberian wilderness, hunting bears with his own two hands in preparation for the PF. Its been a skinnier stand in making the media appearances etc. Roo to kick 7.

I must be a fool. No matter what others say (including our ex coach guru on 5AA tonight) you cannot expect Roo to be fit enough to play after his setbacks. I think the GF is his best hope but he must play for Westies seconds this weekend to get some match fitness.

You gotta love Roo. He is the quintessential captain with all the right qualities. He has integrity, leads from the front and is a champion footballer. :thumbsu: . We love you Roo. :D

I thought there was some rule where you have had to have played so many reserves games to be eligible to play reserves finals.

Not if you're AFL listed and your team is still alive in the AFL finals series.

MCGregor can therefore play for the Eagles this week if not selected for us.

Not if your team is still in the finals. Kenny and Skippy both played reserves on the weekend.

I'd love to line up on him! Then, after he gave me an absolute bath, racked up 30 possies and kicked 10 goals, I could say "I held Roo to 10". Would make a good story when I'm drooling in a rocking chair on a porch somewhere in 50 years. :D

Does not being named as an emergency mean that he cant declare himself fit on Saturday morning? Like he was threatening a few days ago.

Well if he did suddenly declare himself fit i guess he can play, Adelaide will get a fine but who cares when a grand final place is at stake? Plus we are richer than Monty Burns.

Off track a little, but the SANFL dont impose a fine for doing this, which is why North weren't fined for calling up not one, but two players into the side for Sunday's debacle.

He was NEVER going to play in the prelim. Some people just let their imagination run wild

That's not what Roo was saying earlier in the week.
IIRC he played a game or 2 under similar last minute "I feel good enough" calls, early in the season

Remember what was said about McLeod and Burton playing again this year?

He was NEVER going to play in the prelim and he will NOT play in the prelim.

Sometimes people need to get some perspective. With liver inflamation he was never a chance. If we make it through the GF, he is a chance but he NEVER was a chance for the prelim. WAY too risky for his overall health. One bump and it could all be over for Roo. No one is dumb enough to risk his well being for a game of footy
