View Full Version : Eagles at AAMI myth
What's with the wide spread belief that the Eagles lord it over us at our home ground?
Sure we've lost our last two games to them there, both when we were in poor form and missing players by a combined total of 5 points! Add to that the fact that the Eagles have never won a final at AAMI and they have a very poor record at AAMI against PAPS. If anyone else sees any of their arrogant supporters claiming they dominate us at AAMI, can you direct them to this thread!
For the record WC have played at AAMI against the Crows 14 times, coming home with a victory only 4 times.

Yeah but recent history counts, who cares if we beat the Eagles in 91 or something. They have beaten us twice in a row, even Port Power beat them this year.

Yeah, and if I remember rightly we were coming home like a house on fire. The last quarter only went for like 24-25 mins!! 30 seconds more and we had em, but we didnt so we lost.

Before last year they hadn't beaten us here since 1996
We have won 7 of last 9 agaisnt West Coast at AAMI including the last two losses by small margin.
The Crowd will be on fire this week adn the players will be primed.

I dont think our Mods like banning people.

just in case you guys aren't annoyed enough already about the eagles
what you need is someone who is net savvy or got contacts in the media to get you the clip of the latest SGIO tv ad from over here.

On the positive side, we played quite poorly in those two most recent home losses to West Coast and only just lost. We couldn't possibly play much worse (ok, maybe we could, see late season form, in particular the away game against WC).
On the negative side, we seem to always play poorly against West Coast (r22 last year excepted) and I'm thinking that this is in part due to them not allowing us to play well.
I'm not particularly confident that we will win, but it should be a good game. If we put in like the Freo final and chase and harrass like we did then at worst we won't lose by more than a couple of goals so West Coast will need to be at their best.
I'm looking forward to it. Let's be honest. We've been marking time for months waiting for this game. We've known for a while we'd be top 4 and playing in a prelim.
I work for SGIO.. I feel dirty..

Great post mate, i agree with what you say. Its easy to say we have played bad the last few times against the Eagles, but give them credit, they made us look bad by applying pressure when we had the ball, and when they got possession they run hard, get the ball forward quickly, their midfield is the best in the league so we must stay tight.

Yesterday at work I was calling SGIO customers... A lot were call backs because they were out at the footy Saturday/Friday...
So tempting to say Go Crows ;)
We own Sydney... Haven't lost to them in a few years... AND, I read someplace that we're the only team this year to beat them convincingly... Beat them by 39 pts this year and 42 pts last year, both games at the SCG

I am more confident about playing Sydney than any other top eight side...
at least our qualifying final loss was against swans who r a tough unit to beat anywhere.

True the Eagles will be tough to beat, but lets be realistic the Eagles have so far blown a home final against Sydney and beaten the 8th placed side. Exactly the same position that Adelaide were in last year.
The Eagle arroagance might come back to haunt you.
